TC7 Recreation-Newsnight

Looking through previous studio mock threads, it's quite abundant that most of you despise them, put this with the fact that I'm a very new user, and I was quite apprehensive about posting. But I've been looking around here for quite a while now and thought I'd give it a go anyway:

I did a bit of research and found that TC7 is very similar in size to TC2, which measures ~18.6 by 12 metres. Knowing this I found that the barcos used on set were the 67" 1368 by 1026 mm versions. There a 11 barcos on the back wall and 5 protruding making the studio about 15m by 7m. (thanks to DTV for setting me right!)

I checked the size of the set against the average height of a person using rough measurements and calculations from screen caps. After all of that, I actually made the studio in Blender rather than sketchup (the people, which are the correct size, are just imported in for demonstrations sake), the results of which are below:

I'm afraid the baking trays, desk and soft boxes are educated guesses though; and my apologies for the newsroom background, which is the best I could do with Lightwell's image.

I'll consider doing a couple more renders of programs other than the news at 6, but until then, some critique would be greatly appreciated.

Bloody amazing!! What software did you use? Can you export it into a video?

I would just like to say that there are 11 on the back wall and the model of the BARCOs are http://www1.barco.com/federal/en/products/product_features.asp?element=1276 and are 1368x1026mm in Active Screen Size. This means that the back wall is about 15m and the side walls are about 6.8m

I think *many* mockers of studio mocks could take note from this. Really, really fab! Keep up the good work, cause for once - a studio mock seems to had a lot of effort put into it!

Thanks especially to DTV who has set me right on the number and size of the barcos, I hadn't seen this post on the barco website: http://www.barco.com/en/News/Press-releases/uk-national-broadcaster-selects-barco-backdrops-for-news-studios.aspx which is a little embarrassing-but I've set everything right now, and I'll have some more renders of the correction to follow.

Looks really excellent and I think a lot of that is owed to a really superb render which the Sketchup mocks lack. I like the detail in the Barco cubes too, it's detail such as that which really makes the difference. What 3D software did you make this in by the way?

My only comments would have been the scaling seems a bit off for TC7 as it's a pretty big space - but if you're fixing that I'd like to see the improved version. The desk in TC7 is also not circular, it is more of an oval shape. Other than that, very nice

Save for the mangled cardboard person, you could be forgiven for mistaking these for the real studio.

Excellent work... i would like to see what difference it makes when you alter this to fit the correct dimensions of the barco screens.

Yep, wow, this is very very realistic. Honestly if the 3D people weren't in the shot you probably could pass it off for the real thing, it's that good.

BARCOs look a bit too good for the real thing!

Hi, thanks for the replies . I've finished the updated renders, I'll probably do another one of the whole space, as well as some for different programs, as long as I can find some backgrounds. For those who've asked, I made this in Blender 3D.

As you can probably see, I changed the newsroom to make it less blurry and also found a hi res image of the globe for the overlay.

I thought it was circular, but I may be wrong, that or they've put in a new one since then...

Also: I would like to know if anyone has a screen cap of the BARCO graphic they're using on the news at six when presenting from the right baking tray, (if you're not sure, it's the globe logo changing into a picture) I'd like to see if I could recreate part of it for the above render. It probably wouldn't be an animation, though, because that would take too long to render.
