Hi, I've just finished the main set and newsroom parts to my N8 Recreation. I am going to add more detail to the newsroom and studio but before I did that I wanted to see what you think of the actual set.

Close but no cigar.

Hold on just a cotton picking minute...
If you are mocking a studio design you will need the dimensions of the Soundstage or Office Space that the set will occupy. These should be REAL not plucked out of the clouds by magical fairies.

Yes I said that not too long ago...

Whilst the overall shape would seem to be similar i'm not convinced by the accuracy of this.

Plus, the background office space is completely wrong.

In fact I'm just giving it 1 star because I'm sick to the back teeth of these crappy Sketchup Mocks.

I know what can be achieved with Sketchup, and this just doesn't cut it.

The basic shape of the studio is there, but the newsroom itself is not even close to realistic and there are a lot of missing elements such as realistic textures, the studio dimensions don't quite seem right, the frosting and rails in front of the glass are missing, the list goes on.

I've tried N8 in the past and I've only ever managed to do the studio itself, the newsroom itself would take a hell of a lot of precision and time - and of course, accuracy and detail is expected of these mocks. You'd want to dedicate a lot of time if you are doing the newsroom backdrop behind, and doing the frosting itself would be very difficult because Sketchup screws up textures on curved surfaces.

Instead of Starting a new thread I though I'd just upload a picture of my TC7 Recreation as it is.

Not too bad overall - although I would say the studio shape and the actual set are not entirely accurate. I reckon this would look a lot nicer with some more texturing, a render, and making the lightboxes protrude a little further out as they do in reality.

Desks look a bit off, but generally it's okay.

Where's the backdrop from?

It's from Lightwell - I flipped it, so it was twice the length and it lined up better.

The left table is the wrong shape. It is not square but more of a rectange shape. It should be thiner.

As i've said a few times before, that's one sexy looking studio.

Bar none, and not said just out of favaouritism, I believe N8 is the best real news set around these days.

The thing that annoys me about N8 is the laptops being on the desks. There must be a way of putting a computer under the desk and still having flexibility as to where the presenter can sit.
