A late night plug from 11pm to 5am. Contains dark programmes (dark comedy etc.)

Whilst this is a fairly poor mock, it’s also a strange example of where a mock looks better in the light of day...!

The first tranche of comments came through in the evening, when I imagine most members have dark mode enabled. As a result, the transparent background of the logo appeared black, and so you couldn’t really see the logo at all. Now it’s daytime we’re in light mode and the transparent logo behind the background shows as white, meaning that the logo is, at least, much more legible than before. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up for the debate, however!

That's then just poor design as in an ideal world the logo should work regardless of whether its on a white, black, blue, green or pink with yellow spots coloured background. If a logo would vanish on a dark background you tend to get a lighter coloured alternative, or vice versa, and the fact this one looks like its been chewed on a dark background doesn't change the underlying fact that its still a bit half baked.

Yeah, I eventually found out that bit was transparent - I overlaid it onto white myself, and even though it became much more legible, like Critique said, it was still a poor mock

One of many questions is... Why is half the Sky logo missing?

half of the logo is black.

I'm going to take this as a compliment. I'm sorry I let you down. I

Hi! Thanks for your feedback. I understand your opinion on the logo and I apolagise in advance. I'm sorry I let you all down, and I will try to do better in later mocks. Again, I'm sorry I let you all down and I hope you can forgive me

Sky One After Dark would be a late night plug-in from 11pm to 5am. It shows the most darkest shows, meaning dark humour and the like. I took insparation from UKTV Gold After Dark and thought, why not do it to all the other channels too? Sky One After Dark would be the only channel on the Sky network with a after dark plug-in (for now.) Didn't take too long, but will provide more info on it soon.

I will give you points for using the proper font from Sky but it looks like you've used Paint and the Bucket Tool. There are many photo editing software's out there like there like Gimp.

Hi! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, and thank you for the idea.

I could honestly make a better one on Photoshop tbh

I have - but I won't share it out of fearing "Spark" might use it himself

He'll probably delete his account seeing as his mocking days are over.

Sorry to disappoint you, but my account isn't going anywhere anytime soon

UKTVSpark, welcome to the forum.

Let's get past the comments about your age and people telling you that they could create something better themselves and attempt to provide some actual useful advice, shall we?

Interesting concept, and I understand the idea behind a black colour scheme for a channel named 'after dark'. All makes sense. Good so far.

However, the execution is poor, and even if it weren't, it's only one logo, which isn't really a mock in itself no matter how good it is.

I'd advise you read the Guide to Mocking which has been sent to you, and take a look through The Gallery, especially the more successful mocks. You'll see the kind of time and effort which has gone into the projects which do well here and may help to explain why this 'mock' - such as it is - hasn't fared especially well. In any case, you would benefit from seeing some examples of good practice so you can improve your own work.

Play around with ideas and make sure you're happy with what you've done before publishing anything here. There's no point in posting low quality bits and pieces and saying 'yeah, it could be better' or 'I did it quite quickly'. Just take a step back, think about what you're doing, have a play around with things until you're happy, and then you can seek feedback on your more considered new designs in future.

I wish you well with it.
