Sky Challenge

With the relaunch of the major BSkyB channels over the past few days, one channel remained unchanged. This being the once well liked and flagship channel for Flextech, Challenge. Unlike other former Flextech/Virgin Media Television/Living TV Group channels, Challenge was not rebranded with a Sky logo preceding the channel name. Below is what I believe it should look like. The theme is Gameshow genres with bold simple graphics. Each Ident would be based a genre, each making a type of machine using an object most familiar with that genre. The one below uses Darts as the genre and a row of Dartboards make up a cog system. The colour scheme is the same as present, Orange and Blue.

Very impressive. Would like to see other variants if you've done them.

I like that - can see that working well. The dart boards may need a little depth or really fine outline perhaps (Im not an expert, only opinion) as it looks flat against the brilliant & faultless logo.

Thank you for your constructive comments. Although it is a well liked element of my mock I felt it could be improved. Below are my revised Sky Challenge logos, from top to bottom; transparent, black and white.

How did you do these, they're great? In Photoshop?

It's a shame Sky can't incorporate a design like this as they look as if they're putting no thought into it as opposed to Sky Living. Am I right in saying they've chosen not to rebrand it because it's on Freeview, and they want to try and remove the Sky brand from the platform?

I think so, but there are various references scattered around the Sky Programme Information site to "Sky Challenge". Whether it was under discussion or they were just putting 2 and 2 together, I don't know.

How did you make the transparent logo

My comments in the Challenge thread gave me another idea for a new look Challenge. The idea is to use close ups of gaming equipment and replace one colour used with orange. Below is an example using an image from Wikipedia. It is a roulette wheel with the red segments replaced with orange segments.
