A simple lower-thirds experiment

The premise is how Good Morning Britain may have looked if it used the ITV News studio and graphics.

As the title says this is simply to test lower thirds use.

Once again all comments and criticism gratefully recieved.

I claim fair use.

I'd suggest looking more closely at the ITV News graphics, as what you've created doesn't look a lot like them.

Maybe try getting some static images right first before worrying about animating them. I'd recommend getting some screen caps of ITV News featuring their lower thirds and using them as a background layer in Photoshop (or similar). Then see if you can create an exact replica on top. Toggle the visibility on and off (or adjust the opacity) of what you're creating so you can check you're getting it right in terms of positioning, sizing, colour, etc.. Doing this should give you a better feel for how the graphics fit together.

Once you're happy, you can then try modifying parts of it to make it suitable for GMB. Finally, you could then go on to look at animating it.

Keep an eye on things like making sure elements align perfectly, and also don't use black text on a dark background as it's difficult to read.

You're obviously keen, but you need to concentrate more closely on the details. Good luck.

This is exactly what I've been asking for. Practical soild tips Thank you so much. Very Happy

What do you think is the way of getting a screen cap? I ask this because I don't have a DVR

The font I used was called "ITV Reem"

Once again thanks for the help. Cany one add anything?

We know!

As for the other remark, google!? Seriously - Rob's website, Ident Central is a goldmine for things like captures.

Having the right fonts is not even a quarter of the battle. There are so many issues with what you've produced I won't list them. As others have said use the current on air package as a starting point and craft something out of that. Use decent tools not MSPaint or similar (though some remarkable results have and can be achieved with PowerPoint).

As Mike says, there are plenty available online. Or you could take screenshots of the news from the live stream on the ITV hub on your PC.

I didn't really like it. The whole thing looked rush and that no offence)

Firstly, you need to imagine "how would this look on TV" aand looking at it, the shapes are jumbled up and in diffrent sizes. You also dont need any fancy animation, maybe use slide in or what ever it's called or fade in. I would have also added in some outline to maybe make look tidy and good.

Sorry if I upset you with these but I am only trying to help you in your way.

Hopefully you will use these suggestions.
Stay Safe.
