I, for one, think these logos are quite a nice improvement on V1 and V2, and fix many of their faults. I don't think that they could necessary replace the current BBC logos, but they all match and work together, and whilst not ideal the CBBC and CBeebies logos are a lot better than previously. I think the HD logos need some work as the BBC News one looks quite unbalanced.
Thank you, like with all logo reveals, its about the execution of the identity, and not just the logos themselves. The HD logos I think may need some work. My thought for them was HD has more definition, so use thinner typography to demonstrate the clarity. Anything to move away from the current HD application which annoys me.
Also, I think the idea of having uniform logos for the WN programmes, like Click and Global, may not work that well. When they're being promoted the respective names are written like text, and I think striving for a uniform identity on the WN programmes wouldn't exactly work - ITV have a much smaller News department but do have uniform branding, but the other news strands, like the Agenda and all those local ones, escape from this, which I think is right.
The programme names for BBC News are examples, not necessarily a fixed look. Programme titles can sort of do there own thing, but I just showed how they could fit into the "house style" like "Newsday", "The World Today", "The Papers", "Newswatch", "World News America" etc all fit into the generic style, so having a provision for them makes sense to me.
It's an improvement to the original idea you had but I'm not quite sure yet if it's an improvement to what the BBC has.
As long as its slowly improving, that's what counts. Anyone brought in to re-brand some organisation as large as the BBC will need time and expertise to work on ideas. So many different applications of the logo, and years of design neglect IMO, means that the idea of some of these logos changing, takes time to mentally process. Perhaps my frustrations and my view of the current BBC brand situation being a god awful boring mess, is stronger than other's opinions.
Maybe there are people out there who actually are happy with the some or all of the current BBC brands currently in use, and don't want/can't imagine a change. And I think I am feeling more passionate about hating the current situation more than others!
