Following from my first two attempts, and taking on board some of the feedback I received. (http://neon.tvforum.co.uk/thegallery/sick-tired-bbcs-branding-39413/)

I came across a new version of Futura, with a weight between Medium and Bold which I think is better than just using bold. (sadly I can't afford the font, so am piecing together the lettershapes to make the words)

I have also formalised some of the guides I made for myself to show how these logos are put together and the dimensions etc.
*

So now lets get into the logos...
*

BBC One - Four here in both vertical and horizontal formations. I have a fixed colour palette which is used across the whole BBC. I may be able to loosen up on this, but for the purposes of these designs, consistency and order felt like the way to go.
*

Other logos and brands. Not forgetting BBC Alba this time Wink
*

Ideally if this hypothetical rebrand were to take place, the fact next year lots of HD channels are launching, so all the logos should be HD ready, and not an after-thought as it is at present.
*

People hated the orange it seems, so this time BBC News is back to red, but with orange for Breakfast and a healthy dose of Blue (the BBC News Website Blue colour) Regional news in Blue, with the Nations getting their own colours also.
*

BBC Radio, with the new colours, and slight adjustment to the logo placement in line with the circle shape.
*

Web brands and content
*

More tweaks to the International Brands
*

And here are the old logos for a comparison

I love how you've created a new thread because the old one got a low rating. This isn't a new mock, its a version of a mock, therefore it should be with the other designs. Rolling Eyes

Please stop flogging this dead horse, the logos are a mess and all fail in multiple ways.

Thanks for supplying the old logos underneath as they help to highlight how putrid this mock still is.

I can't wait for the V4 thread....

Actually I made a new thread because there were already so many images in the first, and because I started from scratch on these designs (even if it hasn't radically changed)

I, for one, think these logos are quite a nice improvement on V1 and V2, and fix many of their faults. I don't think that they could necessary replace the current BBC logos, but they all match and work together, and whilst not ideal the CBBC and CBeebies logos are a lot better than previously. I think the HD logos need some work as the BBC News one looks quite unbalanced.

Also, I think the idea of having uniform logos for the WN programmes, like Click and Global, may not work that well. When they're being promoted the respective names are written like text, and I think striving for a uniform identity on the WN programmes wouldn't exactly work - ITV have a much smaller News department but do have uniform branding, but the other news strands, like the Agenda and all those local ones, escape from this, which I think is right.

It's an improvement to the original idea you had but I'm not quite sure yet if it's an improvement to what the BBC has.

Thank you, like with all logo reveals, its about the execution of the identity, and not just the logos themselves. The HD logos I think may need some work. My thought for them was HD has more definition, so use thinner typography to demonstrate the clarity. Anything to move away from the current HD application which annoys me.

Also, I think the idea of having uniform logos for the WN programmes, like Click and Global, may not work that well. The programme names for BBC News are examples, not necessarily a fixed look. Programme titles can sort of do there own thing, but I just showed how they could fit into the "house style" like "Newsday", "The World Today", "The Papers", "Newswatch", "World News America" etc all fit into the generic style, so having a provision for them makes sense to me.

It's an improvement to the original idea you had but I'm not quite sure yet if it's an improvement to what the BBC has.

As long as its slowly improving, that's what counts. Anyone brought in to re-brand some organisation as large as the BBC will need time and expertise to work on ideas. So many different applications of the logo, and years of design neglect IMO, means that the idea of some of these logos changing, takes time to mentally process. Perhaps my frustrations and my view of the current BBC brand situation being a god awful boring mess, is stronger than other's opinions.

Maybe there are people out there who actually are happy with the some or all of the current BBC brands currently in use, and don't want/can't imagine a change. And I think I am feeling more passionate about hating the current situation more than others!

An improvement on the previous attempt, but I dislike the use of green for Wales Today (Red is more commonly associated with Wales, despite green appearing on the flag).

The logos you've created for CBBC and CBeebies are hideous. They lack creativity and are 2 steps backward from what we have at the moment.

I like these but would like to see a bit more of the vision beyond the logos, as I think logos alone don't really do any concept justice.

I am working on some motion stuff now. But its mainly example of trailer endboards, and cross promotionals. Not idents. The idea is a way to bring consistency and freshness to the BBC, not to design the channel branding.

As I said in the thread for version 1 and 2, other people with ideas can do that if they want.

I actually think Martin that you have done a very good job here, and this is something that the BBC really needs to look at doing. The current portfolio is a mess, but I think you've done well to add character and uniformity at the same time.

One minor niggle is that I think the word ONE just looks wrong and unbalanced in all capitals if centred under the BBC logo.
I love lamp
