Rebranding Sky - Sky Sports

Hello TV Forum,
I'm a new mocker here and I've decided to start my time here with a Sky rebrand. Each channel will have it's own way of doing things, but simplicity will be found across the whole package. I've started with a simple logo:

At the moment, all I've done are some graphics for football. I have two variants for the scores:

There will be a ticker at the bottom displaying sports news, the current score and other things. For example, the ticker during a golf game would display the par score, etc.

And, if the game goes into extra time, it would look like this:

I also experimented with a score end board to be used at the end of the game.

The fact that you are new here has been reflected in your mock.

1) You have used safe areas. However, the graphics look a bit small and should be larger as it is currently too small for a 4:3 set, let alone a widescreen one...

2) The logo looks okay but would look much better if you could apply the glass effect used on the "Sky" portion of the logo onto the Sports part.

3) The on screen graphics look very basic and rushed. It would be better if you could create an overall colour scheme that includes the logo and the on screen graphics.

Apart from that, not a bad start, could be worse (as this forum has seen time and time again!)

As Mike W would say, it seems to me you are just showing off that you have the Sky corporate font which was leaked on here a while ago.

The mock isn't too great, I presume on 16:9 there won't be any extra graphics on the side since this mock is in 4:3. The Sky part of the logo is too small, especially on the DOG.

That ain't a glass effect.

I believe that's what they call it in PowerPoint.

It's a good start - basic, but I wouldn't expect a new mocker to be amazing right off the bat. The DOG makes the logo look nice, though I don't understand why you have a ticker - I could see viewers getting rather cheesed off when they were trying to watch the game.

The teal in the score aston is too bright, and doesn't really go well with the text, especially the green. Maybe make it a bit darker? I also like your results page, simple, but effective. Overall, a pretty good first effort - keep training your skills up

Well that sums up the mock perfectly....

I've dumped the ticker and made the score aston white, and 50% transparent. Here is what it could look like:

Oh, and VirginMediaPhil, I could use a different font, like DIN for example, but I thought that the Sky Corporate Font is used for all Sky services, so I kept it. However, I could change the font, if it is strongly recommended.

Safe areas? ...its somewhat pointless to do a broadcast graphics mock if you don't adhere to broadcast graphic rules. ...there was a thread that covered this I'm sure.
