The scenario behind this mock is a parallel universe where the BBC decide to ditch the classic revolving sequence that had been around in one way or another since 1971, replacing it with an animation more on par with most TV idents at the time (mostly ITV), as well as new slides/miscellaneous presentation making use of the new OU typeface. The simplicity and effectiveness of this new look led to it being retained post-February 1991, with the idents updated to reflect the new look BBC1 & 2.

1991 BBC1 variant, with background based on the smokey globe. This ident would be discontinued in Autumn 1992 when the weekend morning broadcasts (the only part of the week that BBC1 transmitted OU programmes) were abandoned.

1991 BBC2 variant, using the metallic background from the Paint and Blade idents. This ident remained in use until The Learning Zone started in 1995, with the weekday evening programmes falling under that banner. Weekend programmes from that point onwards were preceded by the usual BBC2 idents.

These are great! Better than the actual ones the BBC were using at the time. 5/5!

I think that, even though the animation is a bit... eh for today, for the late 80's, it makes a lot of sense.

I shouldn't criticize the animation though, because the POINT of mocks is to make a TV ident thing like the era it was, so that is good, so I will give this...
