Thanks. I cleaned out my Metropol uploads a few years ago and must have deleted them then. As with all this stuff its on an old computer, I'll see if I can dig it out for you. I'll also upload the Studio B SketchUp file.

I'd also be curious to see your 1999 N8/N9 sets!

I haven't started them yet!

I have now...

Really impressed with all of these - well done!

I have also done (most) of a recreation of Studio B and they are reassuringly similar, though yours contains the little touches that make it more realistic Very Happy

Looking forward to seeing your progress on 1999 era N8, and any other N8 set - very tricky but having the true office space (as in your screenshot above) certainly makes it easier.

Don't go changing any of your B on my account, though. There are a few things wrong on the one I uploaded - particularly around the BARCO section of the hard set. Can't wait to see yours though.

I might upload my N8 base for other people to look around when I'm done - it's ended up as a near full replica of Stage 6! Just struggling with getting the atrium section right.

Just to update on my progress (and also to give fellow mockers an insight into my particular process), here is the 2D plan of where I'm upto with the red and cream-era N8. A lot of it is still fairly rough at this stage but the main components are there.

Although it is the best part of 17 years since this set was taken down, I'd love to get feedback on the details from anybody who is familiar with the set.

Ooh, as a BIG BIG fan of this era I cannot wait to see how the N8 stuffs turn out. As I might have said before this is the era that got my interest into television presentation in the first place.

(Gets giddy like a kid waiting for Christmas)

Great to see these updates - please keep us posted!

I entirely understand if you don't want to or intend to particularly given the upload issues of the past, but it would also be great to see any SKP files you're willing to share such as the N8 base.

Nice to see you're still occasionally doing these - your designs are definitely much more meticulously planned and set out then anything I ever did! Will be interested to see how these progress but looking very good.

If we're requesting things from the archive, I'd be interested to see any photos from your old N8 recreation, which ISTR was fantastic.

When I've completed it, I will upload the N8 base (and some of my other templates). The problem is I've got really stuck on the big newsroom 'hole?' - I just can't seem to get the proportions right.

Thanks, although, actually, this new full planning process is new. My old technique involved just starting in SketchUp, which would frequently lead to me spending ages rebuilding circular things over and over to get the radius right etc.. I now find that by planning elsewhere, I can create a more accurate mock and spend less time in SketchUp - which can be pain when it comes to correcting things.

I did include a render of my old N8 recreation on the previous page, but I've come to regard my later Studio C recreation as a sort of 'Year Zero' and do hope to redo that version of N8 soon.

I can't say that, before a few months ago, I really had any strong feelings about this era. Boy has that changed, though. One of the reasons I decided to do this as my 'return to TVF' recreation is just how much I've fallen for this era in recent months - particularly the N24 set - which is now one of my favourite news sets of all time and probably the only 'office space' set from TVC that I feel doesn't look quite amateurish in hindsight with the move to NBH.

The problem with this era, though, is that there are just so few photos of the quality I need to make a good recreation. At the minute, my plans are largely a hybird of the 2002 main set and the 1999 second set - simply due to the lack of images of the other. And N8 is one of the better represented studios! With N6, there are a few promo shots on the original set, but no 'behind the cameras' images or any of the far nicer updated set. It's a particular problem with N6, as it is so hard to glean dimensions from the on-air shots of that set.

I have an image from Martin Lewis Design of 1999 era N8, I'll try to upload it at some point. To possibly serve as a guide if that is okay.
