How about this?

You're not designing for use on TV, are you? Safe zones missing, can't work out the production company because that background element is the logo (no, I don't care if it'd be legible in HD, has to work for SD first) and the "part of FremantleMedia UK" tag easily disappears.

Use solid design elements, no outlines or thin characters. The blue is too overpowering, find a secondary colour with which to complement it. Hate the lettering because of the obvious SketchUp (spit) origins and whilst it is Thames, it doesn't mean London skylines are mandatory. Play with the idea, make something original maybe? This is an endcap, you need to be clear, stylish and above all make it look like you didn't get the work experience kid to do it one afternoon.

EDIT: Spoke too soon..
One last attempt, don't forget that all my depictions will appear on screen animated.

If they're to be animated, don't make us imagine it.

Try something different. Thames has always used the skyline; what if Thames took a different angle with a nice shot like this?

The outlines on the big 3D lettering is just to show it is made of glass, ie the rounded edges (I do not have the technology to make it realistic), I added it myself and not through SketchUp (whatever that may be). The photographs depicted in the letters are entirely replaceable, as is the subtext. This is a mock after all and the real thing will be much more polished than this basic computer drawing. I want it to be stylish and all that which is why the 4:3 safe zone was ignored. As for the London skyline, maybe I should replace it with the Bridge of Sighs or the Thames Valley Police headquarters?

The safe zone doesn't really matter on an endcap, that only appears for 2 or 3 seconds anyway.

I give up, I cannot work in such an unruly atmosphere.

I'd use Phil's idea, at least there's no parallax issues with it.

It does, why wouldn't it? Doesn't matter how long it's on-screen for, you still have to make everything visible that needs to be otherwise it looks sloppy. I don't see how people can justify away something being bad because "it's not supposed to be finished, just an idea". If you're going to make mocks which aren't for your singular enjoyment then you should be aiming to make your work look like it came from a pro studio and could be aired tomorrow with no issues. If you're not trying for that level of skill then you're wasting everyone's time including your own.

You may like my recreations of old Coca-Cola logos?

I think that recreations would be a better thing for you to go aim at basically because concept creation isn't a strong point in your repertoire though clearly you show ability elsewhere. I'm a lot more impressed by a good recreation than a mock and I don't see how you can make reasonably good recreations but when you make mocks you come out with awful things.

Oh well, sorry you're not as great as you imagined yourself to be.

Shame on you! Why are you so protective over your mocks, or mockeries! Stop snapping back at people because they don't like it. Stop getting so flustered about everything & never be as harsh as to say a thing like that!

Okay, that's just too far, and quite frankly a bit childish. Stop now.

That's not to say I particularly like the way baa has gone around this either.

I honestly thought his earlier "my talents are superior" cringe-comment was a misleading grammatical faux pas. Maybes not...
