The show will mostly be presented from the Main News Desk, with updates coming from the Update Desk (obviously). Interviews and Entertainment and various other parts will be on the Couch. Blinds are in use and so are the blue wall backing things? Weather takes place at the Sports Desk with the 'Podium' moved out of the way. I have fully utilised the VizRT system in use, by implementing the iPad 2 system. Lorraine will also move into the same studio with News and Weather Updates coming from their respective places. On the wall that the News Update Desk is there is a cutaway at the top of the studio beside the steps which leads to the green room.

Any questions, ideas or criticisms just reply! Thank you!

Not too bad actually, some nice design elements in there - but could really do with a render. At the very least, go into Sketchup and removed edges (Window > Styles > Edit and uncheck Edges).

Also reduce the size of the pictures please!

Yeah I tried to untick the edges but it would re-enable after I used the different camera's and yeah how do I make them smaller Sad

EDIT: Also the video is curently exporting! A mock up of the way it would look onscreen, without the graphics is on its way!

Aah, Par 64s, those well known studio lights...

Seriously, remove your lighting rig. It just looks silly.

Look hideous. What are the green things supposed to be?

No idea what you mean by this... any hints available?

Lorraine will also move into the same studio with News and Weather Updates coming from their respective places.

Where would the various parts of Lorraine's programme come from? I've never watched it, but all previous attempts at a Lorraine studio have included a cat walk and kitchen.

On the wall that the News Update Desk is there is a cutaway at the top of the studio beside the steps which leads to the green room.

A what-what?

Make them 50% smaller and save as JPG files, re-upload and edit the post here with the reduced size images.

Definitely needs the edges removing or a render too. Those green panels alongside the desk are a little odd and everything looks like rough. Some bits look copied from 3D Warehouse too. Not the worst thing on here but I'd keep practicing your skills further and making objects yourself as much as you can.

Lighting rig will be removed ASAP! Green things are LCD's in a CRT-style framing, will show various things like regionals as Daybreak opts out, or when there is a big event and they have correspondants all over the country or world!

Lorraines kitchen is elsewhere but it is close! For a catwalk, its not really a catwalk but they come in through the cutaway and stand at the steps.

Cut-away, as above! Will add pics soon as I can!

Ahh the VizRT! Right the whole VizRT graphics system can be controlled through an iPad(s) used b y the various presenters! So if Kate is interviewing someone, the camera will be on the guest and Kate would go ' Joining us on the sofa is .....' and then she can tap the section for the strap to come up then swipe her thumb to remove it.

Could somebody explain this Sketch Up craze to me please?

I know when used correctly it can be highly powerful software, capable of realistic recreations of rooms and such - so is that the ultimate goal, to create as "real" looking a 3D replica as possible or merely a corny, decidedly off cartoony version, examples of which can be seen throughout this forum?

I dunno, it just strikes me as the equivalent of someone quite liking the BBC One endboards before proceeding to imitate them in MS Paint... and then thinking they look superb, "real" even. Or am I being harsh/missing the point?

Why though? Would it improve the show?

If you wanted to, you could control the vision mixer, servers and sound desk from an iPad, do you want to give all that operation to the presenters too?

It's just for it to be different lol erm I think Sky News uses it for some segments

Totally agree with that assessment... I cant comment on the mock itself as there doesn't appear to be any images... Shocked

I suppose it's because of it's quite easy to use (and very easy to simply drop objects from the internet in...) I think I was one of the first (the first?) to post a Sketchup based studio mock here so blame me Wink

The studios I've made tend to make large use of image backdrops and basic blocks (take a look here and here) - so there is less to look rendered, so to speak, and it looks less cartoonish. For something like this, it's probably a good idea to give it a render to give it at least a vaguely realistic look.
