Hold on a sec... who's mock did I copy?
I recreated the GMT titles and the BBC News 2003 titles as accurately as possible, which is a perfectly legitimate form of mocking, and might I add the primary form of said practice.
What I object to here is when dosxuk has created a superb set of ORIGINAL graphics why has another member blatantly copied them?
It just seems to me that instead of using his design skills to create his own version of the IOC's Olympic Graphics, Daniel has just produced a poor copy of another member's design. It is the exact fact that this is a copy that I gave this 1star.
If this was a recreation of the Actual IOC graphics i would have looked upon this more favourably.
Originality is good. Recreations are good as well, but only of the original broadcast graphics.
Mocks of imaginary TV channels/programmes and copying someone elses original idea is bad.
Somewhat harsh. Yes, they are no doubt inspired by dosxuk's design, but at least they are technically well executed. I don't see anybody complaining that Martin's mocks are crappy rip-offs of the BBC's graphics - especially when they're near perfect.
Well the difference is Martin's aren't crappy rip-offs, they're excellent rip-offs and most importantly they don't take the creative ideas from another member!
Jesus christ...
These are well executed, if copies of somebody elses work. Copying is the greatest form of flattery.
I can't believe how bitchy a bunch of grown men are. Grow up and get lives. This is pathetic. It has happened on a majority of threads recently. People have attempted to show off their work and a group of old members gang up and attack others. One day you old folk will die and we'll complete this sort of work. Help people improve, not lose all faith that what they are doing is at all worth their while.
::facepalm::
thank you for just totally proving my point. shame really, I had a lot of respect after looking at a couple of your mocks. shame you're a totally idiot.
I got fed up of giving advice because nobody ever listens to it and they keep posting absolute crap. In fact the vast majority of mocks on here in the last few years have been awful.
What I find pathetic is that these purveyors of awful mocks don't seem to get it. They think the "older" members are ganging up on them or singling them out, when in actual fact they have completely ignored all the advice given to other members and the useful Guide to mocking, and instead just posted their terrible first version of whatever it is when the recommendation is to sit on it for a few days after completion and make sure it is the best that you can do.
If members post work on this forum that is of a high standard I will give praise, if a work shows promise then I will give advice. However if a work is of no merit whatsoever, or in this case heavily plagiarises another member's work then i will give my rating, and occasionally an opinion, and then move on with my life that i have that is fine and thanks for asking.
If people loose faith by the comments that are made then so be it, if they are destined to be a good Graphic Designer they will get over it and possibly come back with a superb mock. Those destined for the graphic design scrap heap will not and the world will be better for it. If that results in me being branded a total idiot by those who don't like the way I give feedback then so be it.
I'm done with this thread don't expect a reply.
These are actually very nice mocks. Not as good as dosxuk's version, but it is something you could expect to see on screen without looking away in disgust, and a lot more neater than what we currently have on screen.
I really don't understand why some members come to really quick conclusions on this mock. The only error I realised was the initial font he used on the first set, which at a smaller size was almost unreadable. Otherwise, I think what we have here is a clean, friendly but not too bland set of graphics, something a few other members on here could learn from.

These are a crappy ripoff of dosxuk's version.
Come up with your own design and don't just copy those of another member.
