Correction - you don't care about studios. I don't see the issue as long as they're of acceptable quality.

So far none of the Daybreak mocks have been to a good standard. They look like they've been put together in five minutes in a break time at school.

You're quite right, but there are other studios made that are of good quality - it's this reputation of 13-year-olds doing 10-second Sketchup studios and other mocks that's giving the Gallery a bad name.

Take a look at these two as examples:

It would be nice to see some more quality studios coming out of this place (as well as other work!)

Those are to a good standard but still just don't look very good in general because of what it is and where it came from. Studios leave me cold so with or without, I don't know if I'd be too concerned.

Heh, I like the notion that 10 year olds are giving The Gallery a bad name, it's had a bad name since before it was called The Gallery and it's an insult to 13 year olds, I'm sure they could do better than these mid-teenage obsessives.

The big breakfast one is mine. I started that back in 2009 with help from big breakfast fans who knew their way round the house and from watching endless videos of the house on youtube to get the house just right. Plus the house is done in a proper house design programme.

I've used Kerkythea but it's a pain to try and use - and trust me, the renders will look nowhere near as good as that.

Here's an example of a quick Kerkythea render, using one of my Sketchup studios - obviously there isn't a huge amount to render, you'd get better results if there was more detail and objects within the model - need to remove the shadows too because the studio is not outdoors!

The rendered pic looks poor in the thumbnail, click it and you can see the difference much more clearly.

You can adjust the brightness of the lights you use in Kerkythea - I'm sure I have an awful example of a set I designed somewhere a few years ago to prove it...

The effects in the video above are created within Kerythea, and do require much more skill.

Luckily, nobody has to suffer my awful, awful studio design as I've lost the file. But Kerkythea is not that hard.

"Not that hard", he says... Believe me, what can be determined as "hard" around here will make you sad for humanity.
