Thanks all for the replies. I've got rid of the italics!
In my second mock, I've started something called M-itv (pronounced MyTV) which is basically the chance for people to choose what they want on the homepage (similar to what bbc.co.uk has, but not as good) and people can set that [itv.com] as their homepage. I've also changed the content headers to the ITV logo style

the reason i used m . . . . . . . . . ITV.com is because people can change the items on the homepage to what they want. so m-itv (pronounced MyTv) make it sound like it's their own. Sounded like a good idea at the time.... sorry.
And with the text overlaying on the image, I'll change that next time, as ive managed to make the box bigger so i can move the image accross to make more room for the text.

Have you saved it as a GIF and then converted it or something? And why m

ITV.com? And why is the text going out of the black box on the main box?

I think what ITV.com needs is to allow all programmes to have their own distinctly designed sites, with a uniform, clean ITV header that suits all sites (and fits in an ad). Something like this:

A dark, grey header and page background suits all style of site.
This way, all programme mini-sites are distinct and unique in style whilst being under the overall "umbrella" of ITV.com.
Regarding the original mock, I think it's a good direction to take ITV.com in (centering it for a start) but it's still too complicated. ITV should go simple and more modern.

I have to say Pad, i really like the concept and the sample above. it looks so much better than what ITV have right now.
