ITV1 Refresh - Spectrum

I've come up with a refresh for ITV1, semi-inspired by the ITV studios logo, but not really.

It involves a "spectrum" theme, whereby idents and other presentation are made up of a "flurry" of light of all colours in the spectrum "bursts" from the ITV1 logo in random directions, changing in colour.

ITV1 could make hundreds of idents on the same theme very quickly and easily, with different paces of movement and colour. For instance, for a drama, its ident could be a sombre spectrum ident, with colour slowly spreading from the ITV1 logo, and moving around sombrely in a limited blue/grey colour pallette. The music would fit the movement.

For, say, The X Factor, the colour would explode from the logo to upbeat music, and the colour would revolve quickly around the ITV logo, pulsating to the beat and changing colour frequently.

The rest of the presentation would be simply the same, really, just updated with the spectrum look and feel, standard ECP and endcap design.

I improved the endcap slightly, with the yellow text for the programme title to make it look a bit nicer than "all white, one size" we have at the moment.

I agree - very well done pad. Sadly, I doubt we'll see designs like this on ITV1. There is so much scope with the "alive with colour" branding but they haven't really discovered the potential.

Excellent mocks, pad. However, the 'alive' idea was tried when BBC FOUR launched, and for some reason the broadcasters didn't like it and it disappeared after about 12 months.

....I'm assuming your suggestion is along the same lines?

Love these. specially love the promo endcap and the end credit promotion but not sure if the idents would work that well.

They look very impressive, but not sure how they would suit ITV1. I think they would suit a smaller digital channel more.

Maybe I would just have to see them as videos though.

I guess I'm the only one then not blown away by these. I get the idea, but really think they'd look rather hideous on screen.
