hi, don't think I've linked to this on here before but something I made 4 or 5 years ago. Hope you like.

I remember this one from a few years ago. Thought it was brilliant then and I still do. Chroma keying is perfect.

Big thumbs up Thumbs up

I'm not clear as to what you've done exactly here.

Have you recreated the entire ident and added the regional logo (in which case, yes, impressive). Or have you just slapped a semi transparent regional logo on top of the existing ident?

I suspect it's unfortunately the latter. In which case, not exactly difficult to do.

Seen these before but they're rather good - and slightly more than just slapping the regional logo on the ident, you've incorporated it into the ident itself.

Let's see what tomorrow brings then from ITV - on the one hand it might just be the same as last year, but I've a feeling we might be in for a pleasant surprise.

The latter. I agree, not that difficult to achieve - a combination of colour matching, layer masking and camera tracking. Hopefully they look like they belong within the ident, as that's what I was trying to achieve really, you might think otherwise though!

My original thought was that there might be some interest in seeing if and how it would've worked with the regional logos in place, as I believe was originally intended (the not quite vertically centred ITV1 logo would seem to suggest this rumour is true).

There's subtle motion control in there. The attention to detail makes it work. Slapping the logo on like you suggest would look considerably worse than this.

It's subtle and lovely.

Plus it makes me appreciate how nice those animations were. It would be lovely to see them create an annual character again.

Of course, the logos used in this mock match the ones from the purple endcaps, rather than the 1999 idents. Which of course was probably what they would've used if they really did intend to have the regional symbols on it (though I wonder if the channel name would've appeared at the bottom?). It's probably been discussed before, but it makes me wonder why Tyne Tees and Border's normal idents were never updated, to update and restore their logos respectively? Surely Tyne Tees could've requested a new version when their logo changed in 2000? Probably would've been easy to do using the existing template, it just needed the font changing for the name and the box replaced. Border's edit (after being taken over by Granada) would've only required the addition of a blue box above the text with the chopsticks symbol in yellow. It wouldn't have been any more difficult than the update for the ITV1 logo.
