ITV News at Ten

Using snippets from programmes and promos past to create an homage to the current ITV News titles.

I've tried to capture the excitement and drama of six decades of newsgathering, but obviously I was limited in the footage that's out there. Behind-the-scenes shots of newscasters preparing for broadcast and the 1955 and 2015 versions of the tools of the trade (cameras and microphones) feature along with some familiar faces and on-screen looks. The music is a rearrangement of the original orchestration of Johnny Pearson's ‘The Awakening’.

the music is far to slow, but everything else, is outstanding.

Technically it's good.

Way too much going on though, needs simplifying and cleaning up quite a bit if you ask me. You don't need all those faces who aren't all renowned for presenting News at Ten. Just focus on the Big Ben clock face and some of the famous faces from the past and remove the unnecessary faces and the references to ITN.

Music is very slow and eerie and the Bringing the Facts to life tagline is too cheesy.

A lot of work to be done but not bad for a first effort.

Sorry but the music is awful.

Like the idea of the titles, but there is so much going on in such a short space of time, it looks a bit of a mess. Maybe have fewer things or make each segment last slightly longer, and try it with the current music which will probably work better.

Also what was that beginning bit all about with the ITV logo and different regional logos/music from the past? Would that also be part of it? If so, then that needs to be sorted, as that also looked a mess.

I like that there's lots going on, six decades of drama and excitement in less than 20 seconds, it's meant to flash before your eyes.

All of the faces are listed as main anchors on the ITV News Wiki page so I don't consider any of them unnecessary. I would have included more (Dermot, Nicholas) but I omitted anyone who now works for a rival news organisation.
ITV News = Independent TeleVision News / ITN = Independent Television News, for 45 of its 60 years it was presented on screen as ITN so I'm perplexed as to why you're ordering references to ITN be removed?

The tempo of the music is the same as the current theme, which is slightly slower than the original. Apologies for giving you the willies with it.

ITV News have been bringing the facts to life for sixty years, they were famous for it. Previously the news on the BBC was an announcer speaking over captions, still images and maps. It was ITN who pioneered in-vision newscasters and filmed reports so they literally brought the facts to life.

Thanks. the music is the same tempo as the current theme, I think it just sounds slower because there's no drum machine driving it forward and it sounds weird to hear real instruments after years of electronica.

I don't think the "Bringing Facts to Life" slogan is necessary, but other than that this is outstanding work as always.

How about chaging the end tag, get rid of Bringing Facts to Life, just have 60 years of ITV NEWS at Ten?

Looks fantastic! Only request, as with everyone else. Get rid of the "Bringing Facts to Life". Too generic.

While I can't see something like this ever being used on air... it is a really nice 'tribute' of sorts. Not keen on the slowed down theme but all the archive shots you've chosen work really nice together. Good work pip!



That wouldn't look quite right though - makes it sound like News at Ten is celebrating its 60th when it hasn't even turned 50 yet. ITN (and ITV for that matter) turns 60 in September.
