Much better to have the ITV News logo on one line; I like the idea of the programme names in the opening sequences, and although I appreciate you're not planning to tweak again, I would prefer the names to be more prominent than you've currently put them - a bit more like the Election titles: http://www.tv-live.org.uk/features/elections/general-elections/uk-general-election-2015/itvstv-election-result-coverage-2015/itv-news-election-result-coverage-2015/

Not a fan of the astons although it's nice to see something different - how about developing a new idea based on that strap they're using to introduce reports on News at Ten at the moment?

Cheers pal. Thanks for the comments. I am going to leave the opening titles as they are, although your points are valid. I just quite like the squares actually and think the titles would be prominent enough on a TV screen? Your opinion is valued though, I would consider creating a rectangular middle part for more space and larger title but... my gut is saying leave it.

As for the astons, I definitely want to play around with them a bit more - good idea about the new News at Ten strap being an inspiration. I'm going to (at some point) have a look at these.

Overall I'm happy with these mocks. Though they're not for everyone, they've certainly inspired some others (ha!) and I've enjoyed conversing with everyone about them. So thanks to all.

Brilliantly executed design. I can actually see them titles working on TV. Would be great if you could animate the titles to show how they would work on TV.

Thank you very much for the kind words!!

Unfortunately I haven't got experience with animation but you can imagine them being exactly the same as the current titles in terms of animation but with the edition title in the centre and the ITV News logo in the lower thirds.

Thanks again for your comments.

Okay - so I know it won't be too pleasing to you Brekkie but I've made some tweaks but not all the ones you perhaps would have wanted.

I've changed the ITV logo from being stacked and two-tone in colour to one block colour and one line. While I do like your idea Brekkie about the ITV News coming up afterwards in the middle, I prefer it in the bottom third.

Moreover, I do like the programme names in the square. I guess it's personal preference but I'm happy with the placement and different widths of text. I have, however, made the titles larger and fixed the spacing between the two lines. It's worth noting that "News" is always the same size and the "Lunchtime / Evening / At Ten" is also the same size. So there is consistency there.

The images are at best indicative - and again Brekkie we differ in opinion about Big Ben. I think it's a great symbol for Britishness and there's no reason it can't be in all the bulletin titles. I think it's worth remembering that like the current titles, these images would shift and change a lot across the course of the titles. No image or visual motif would have too much dominance

Thanks for letting us watch on as these progress and contribute and absolutely respect your right to completely ignore my opinion! Wink Don't get me wrong about Big Ben though - it absolutely should be in the titles but some shots are better than others.

Always think the interesting thing about seeing mocks being built and offering advise is often you kind of end up completing the circle. I'm probably now of the opinion to put the ITV logo back with the programme title, then I'd be saying make the whole thing linear rather than stacked, and then I'd be saying to take the programme name out of it and we're pretty much back where we are now.

I do think though this mock (and the two others which have appeared in the last day or two) show though how it's very difficult to revamp a presentation package which is already superb - tweaking it almost always somehow devalues it and you're probably better starting from scratch with an original concept.

I couldn't help but consider further tweaks to these titles inspired by Election 2015 (after what you said BBCNicky). These couldn't be more "rough sketch" - as I said before I like my final designs of the old style.

I removed the images on these end boards - but they would still appear during the titles.

Don't love these ... but these were just intrigue-based. I think I prefer the originals but it was fun to knock them together really quick for the purposes of just trying another idea. Smile

I can't help but think of a very popular free world adventure game when I look at these.

Nice to know somebody in this forum is willing to accept some constructive criticism for the sake of trying. Wink

Of course it's hard to judge these against your other attempts as they are by your own admission very rough ideas, but I do think the programme names are better laid out in this way than stacked.

Yeah, they were really rough ideas (5 mins) but I think you're right about them being better laid out like that than stacked. Thought it would compromise the square thing but it didn't. Glad I tried anyway. Thanks for all your feedback and sticking up for me on other threads (I've broken my silence and returned the favour tonight!)

If there wasn't such a hoo hah about ITV News mocks 😂 I'd probably continue them but I'll leave that to the guys who had the idea first but posted it after. Haha!

There is no rules about lots of people posting the same mock at once, look at all of the Good Morning Britain mocks for example.

Feel free to continue your mock. I gave you some constructive feedback Smile

Still don't believe it, sorry. There are various ways to fake that kind of thing. Let's leave the subject now.

1 last thing to clear up:
I wouldn't fake that kind of thing even if I knew how to, which I don't.

All 3 of us are making ITV News mocks which we all have the right to do. I would like this subject to be left, I asked for it to be left on my post too. So can none of us, mention or even try to hide the fact that you are mentioning this subject again on any of our threads.
Can we all be constructive to each others projects. After all, great minds think alike.

You wanted it to be left so much that you decided to muddy a different thread once the argument had died down with a screenshot anyone could produce by renaming/using an older file or using EXIF-changing software.

I'm bored s**tless of this now. I didn't even care in the first place that two near-identical concepts appeared within days of mine, I only got involved because BBCNicky was being hounded and, since he was speaking truth that resonated with me, I felt guilty not saying anything.

PM me if you want to say more, though I can't guarantee I'll reply. As I said, the subject is closed. Agree to disagree, etc etc blah blah.
