Hi all,
I can't remember if I've ever posted a mock on here before, but I suddenly had an idea for something like the old mock galleries on APFS, based around a "what if" scenario in which Grampian wasn't sold to SMG in 1997. Random, I know, but bear with me. The original sources for most of the images are from TV Ark or TV Live, but I did a lot of work to get them to reflect my ideas. Here goes...
1998-99

(Okay, so this isn't a mock... they'd still use the same ident they were using in 1998 in this alternate universe.)
Early 2000
In November of 1999, most ITV regions unveiled a series of generic "Hearts" idents based around the network slogan of "TV from the heart of life". After much deliberation, Grampian decided to adopt a similar theme to their presentation, but modified it to suit their needs, with no ITV logo in sight. These idents used the same initial video clips as the corporate Hearts idents, but faded to these end slides. Instead of spinning hearts, the background contained spinning St. Andrews' Crosses instead! As with the network's generic set, there were morning, afternoon, and night colour schemes.
Promo and menu graphics were fairly straightforward and rather unimaginative.
Late 2000-2002
With the launch of standardised widescreen continuity in summer 2000, Grampian rolled out widescreen versions of their "Hearts" idents, taking the opportunity to shrink their logo and name a bit.
The rest of the presentation became slightly slicker as well, taking advantage of the wider screen space.
Grampian went all out for Christmas in 2001, adopting a regional version of the network ident and modifying their promo graphics for the occasion.
