Yes, it is basic.
You need to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 (go to design tab and slide size)
Also you've ignore safe areas on the sides so take a look at that
I'd recommend looking at the Guide To Mocking. http://tvforum.uk/thegallery/guide-mocking-33033/
Have a look and take notes off of it, then come back to the mock.

If you knew it was basic then why post it? You should look into using other programmes other than PowerPoint, would love to see improvement though; keep going on it and you may get it right.

Please please. Read this http://tvforum.uk/thegallery/guide-mocking-33033/
Also, you should not be just guessing and approximating from your eye on aspect ratio. The default these days is 16:9 or 1920x1080 when in full HD. You must learn the very basics of how TV design work before starting to make a mock, http://tvforum.uk/thegallery/top-rated/ these mocks are the top of the class and what you should be working towards . You should try to invest more than a few minutes into perfecting what you have in mind

I don't think Powerpoint is the main issue here but take on board what others have said.
All that aside for what it's worth it's a good starting point - the different astons at the bottom anyway work well enough together and though you've ignored aspect ratios and safe areas the text within each graphic is nicely proportioned. It would be rather foolish though to ditch the GMB logo in favour of it in text - and ultimately I think that's part of the reason we've come to have GMB mocks on this forum. They all basically end up looking the same, and rarely, if ever, improve on what the show itself uses.
A long, long, way to go though - but don't give up, but also think whether something really is worth posting before you do.
