Hi Guys,

I've been on this forum for so long, just watching and this week I decided I would have a go! I know people get blasted on here quite (very) regularly, but as I'm a graphic and web designer for a few large companies; I'm used to my ideas getting chucked out after hours of work!

Basically, this is an idea for a re-brand for Good Food, although it ties in with the magazine, I'm not a fan of the current branding. Plus the logo can always be switched to something similar to how it is now.

EDIT --- Read below for original and new mocks!

>> The links work, I tried to insert the pictures but they didn't show. Smile

I'm ready for your reviews!

- I know the web address isn't right, it just sounds better.
- It all aligns up with the guide to mocking safe areas.

Cheers.

As a first mock, I think it's quite promising. It looks clean and quite nice, it all lines up and it looks sensible. However, I think it looks a bit dull - I know Good Food's branding at the moment isn't exactly magnificent, but this does seem just a bit too bland. Also, that handwriting font you've used looks a bit out of place, IMO.

I'd like to see you go further with this, and won't rate it just yet, but it's promising - it's always a good start when the member's first mock doesn't look rubbish.

And as an aside: are there rules relating to where the credits have to appear on-screen? I know they have to appear, but do they have to be in the 4:3 area, or...?

EDIT: Changed my mind on the logo. It's nice because it's simple - not dull because it's simple.

The background is plain and boring and so is the logo, and the gradient top swoosh will get you sued by Apple.

I don't like the use of the handwritten font throughout, it needs a simple font to go with it, especially when it comes to the web address looks like 'goodfoodtv'.

The Dropbox links seem to get dropped (haha) after about an hour.. does anyone have any good recommendations of where to re-upload them? Also so they show properly, meaning people don't have to go clicking links!

I like being called boring and dull! At work It's always too colourful or too wild so that makes a nice change Very Happy

Am working on changing it.

Thank you, I've tried, when attempting to register I get...

Creating a new account is currently not possible.

In case it's the same as my TV Forum username and password, I tried and I get...

You have specified an incorrect username.

Sorry for the confusion! I tried using DropBox, then it dropped the links and deleted the pics!

Its okay and is well executed, but lacks character.

My immediate reaction when i saw that 'handwritten' font was... "Why haven't they designed the OSG as some sort of 'recipe book'. <Possible alteration that might make this more interesting.

...as it stands its a 3/5.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments and the 3 and 2 star ratings, for a first mock, I'm happy with that!

@SomeRandomStuff - A recipe book is what I was thinking, but handwriting fonts seem to be widely unpopular, so have come up with a new idea!

The logo has also changed, it now has a little cut out, as the whole circle was rather dull, and the current logo includes something similar. HD Logo - if the next program or trailered program is in HD, a little HD icon will appear above the web address. Not changing the main logo.

Updates -

New logo/ident.

The idea - many coloured panels that slide into position with the logo; each colour a different subject, brown = baking, blue = fish, purple = fun show like experiments and so on. Each panel has badges cut out, showing the dark grey base colour beneath. The badge icons will be subject related, so if it's a blue panel, there will be a prawn badge, fishing pole badge etc. (At the moment there's only cutlery and an orange)

New End Credits screen

The idea - pretty much the same as before, now using a badge and a smaller tweet box.

Trailer End

The idea - the left panel being the appropriate colour. The show name and time appearing where the logo would be. I'm debating having a badge or not.

During program

Right direction? I should I go back to the drawing board? Very Happy

Cheers
