I'm starting off by trying to make the lower right edge of the straps more of a curved production. Because, it is just a straight line going diagonal. All comments are going in, and something better should come out.

I'm been back at the drawing board, making corners curved, and shapes 3D, and this is the result.

3D One line Name Strap

I've only done these two as too see if you think they are any better. I think I've rounded the corners and so on, but now, I must ask, do they look too dark. I think I've made them too dark, but I'm not sure.

I need your opinion, please.

EDIT: I have just looked at them, and now uploaded, I think they are horrible, and do not look 3D. I hate my own mock, so you most likely will too. Apologies for uploading this monster, it is terrible, and proves I must check before uploading. But they did look better before upload to me.

So tell me how putrid they are, because they are.

Apologies Again

Despite my earlier post, I don't think that your mock is as bad as you think!
It is 100% better than your last - without a doubt. My only reservation here is that the logo you use needs to be changed - there is a flurry of blue pixels surrounding it which doesn't look that proffessional. Also, i think that the writing 'LA Correspondant' under neath carla's name needs to be smaller and less 'bold'!

Another thing - please don't influence our opinions on your mocks in the way that you have done!

But keep at it!

I can publish my own opinion here, it's my mock, anyways...

Another update:

These are not uploaded via Metropol, so problems may persist, but I cannot help it as I get Error Code 10 in every browser at the moment on Metro.

The changes here are:

- I've Anti-Aliased my work
- I've used a Futura look-a-like
- In the double version of the name strap, the bottom text is now smaller and in lowercase.

EDIT: I think Anti-Aliasing hasn't worked.
Also, I am using Paint Shop Pro 7, which is what I used to make the shapes and so on, and am constructing them together in Paint (Yes, I know) and saving them as Png's.

you tried moving into 16:9? and the white outline degrades the mock quite badly, it there when you preview it in PSP?

edit: reread, Paint is the most awful tool ever. Try to make it all in PSP.

Okay, will assemble work through PSP in future, I've always been able to do so, but for some reason never have. Thanks for comments, and I'll try to kill the white outline.

I have had a go at recreating some GMTV straps to. I would have uploaded this ages ago but Metropol's uploading service was not working.

Yours aren't that much better than Critique's in all honesty - not that his were substandard - they were not. You need to look closely at the top right and corner of the blue strap - it isn't quite right. Apart from that, it isn't bad!

In what way could I improve my mock, as far as I can tell my mock is far superior to Critique's for example it is anti-aliased and in 16:9.

Invent's attempt is much better than Critique, as its widescreen and anti-aliased, although there's certain elements that need more refining, its not bad. Although to be fair to Critique, he's just starting out. From personal experience I find PSP not really that intuitive, and its not anti-aliased by default.
