Sorry, not a fan. Has not got that quality feel to it.

I still don't like the design of the 'Channel Eight' logo, not very imaginative. The reflection just screams PowerPoint, and I'm not a fan of the font used for 'news' or the URL (which would look better without the capital 'C').

I've no idea were this is based, or were it broadcasts to, that is certainly not a UK place.

The swoosh lines are nice.

But now, what is that broken box, don't like it, does it represent 'breaking news', yet only has 7 pieces?

Needs work, but can't fully rate the mock without other images; astons, split-screens and other general on-screen graphics.

It was actually a different member who posted that mock (who could forget the beautifully appropriate scenery), which makes you wonder why JJONES has chosen to replicate such a dull, lifeless logo.

Dear god I hope this isn't a new trend.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I'll improve it right away. Its good to have an experts opinion, because my friends say its nice but they really don't know how graphics is worked and the amount of effort that goes into it.

I think we should kill these Channel Eight mocks before they get out of hand... and THREE THREADS for one mock is a bit ridiculous.

To be honest I think you all expect the same thing over and over again with no changes, Look at all the design work people have been uploading. It's The same all of it. You might of changed the color of the logo or the idents or whatever but you used the same colors it has previously, its stupid. If you think your all so amazing at the designs, then for once do something different. It goes to show. Smile

...any specific examples or are you just going to use sweeping generalisations?

As this is probably a response to my earlier post... are we to expect a new thread every time you upload an image in which case that would be considered as getting "out of hand". Keep your mocks in one thread please.

Before i go into your mock lets address your little tirade about people's mocks being all samey and how great we all think we are...
People mainly mock existing channels or programmes, so by default the colours will mainly be the same as they are usually trying to replicate what already exists. We're not all Martin Lambie-Nairn nor do we claim to be amazing designers. Usually the best new design ideas are rare. To top it off a lot of the stuff in this gallery you're probably listing in your 'samey' category is complete crap that has taken five minutes to produce... So the only mocks you should compare yours to are those with Four or Five stars, as they are the ones that took the most effort and skill to produce. They also usually justify the reasons behind their mock by explaining the idea.

If in doubt, compare your mocks to REAL television graphics and read the Guide to Mocking Thread (I've brought it to the top for you)

Now the mock itself...
I dont see the point in mock designs of Imaginary TV Channels and Programmes. When there are plenty of existing Television Channels/Programmes out there that could be mocked why do you need to Invent one? Mocks are supposed to have some foundation in reality.

From your logo and two images I have absolutely no idea what 'Channel Eight' is for, what programmes they air, why they have a weird sense of irony and use seven triangles in their logo.

As for the execution, you downloaded an image of a skyline, drew some squiggly lines on it, typed 'channel eight' and picked a font, changed the colours, drew seven triangles in a box, gave it a reflection and then a weird glow... oh and then later you changed the background and added some 3d triangles, all whilst apparently ignorant to broadcast dimensions and safe areas.

I've been using Adobe Illustrator for a long time so I know for a fact that all of those things can be done with little thought in five minutes.

...do you think maybe there is a reason why this mock has had a bad reception.

Please think it through next time, and the first design you come up with should not be the one you post on the forum.
