Hello all, havent been round here in a while, but in my spare time, I have been creating a refresh for the E4 channel known as Entertain Four (Logo Below)

*

The concept of this mock is modern and simplistic (no onscreen jargon) but also to incorporate themed snapshots into the design.

Promo (Specific: Made in Chelsea)
A background image/video would be required.

Not overly impressed with the font used, the URL would be almost illegible in SD.

Really not sure that losing the 'E4' logo and name is good, it seems to be a popular identity.

IMO, the look does not match the content, if The Big Bang Theory and Made in Chelsea is the sort of content used.

I really like the designs, not keen on the colour throughout, the blue looks common and the made in Chelsea certainly shouldn't be in Orange as it isn't in keeping with the MIC look. I think that the font also needs re-addressing but the format and models look really promising!

I would also say:

I think that people would begin to recognise the change and the new identity will soon become as popular- after all they have done it before on other channels and it has been successful.

But Entertain Four isn't a very good brand in comparison to the simple and effective E4 and everyone knows what they're going to get from E4 by now.

These mocks are of a good standard though.

Not sure of the name or the logo to be honest, but they're not bad mocks. Best I've seen today.

It's a good mock but as AxG and james.914 have said, the orange doesn't work. As for the name, it could be 'e4' which then spilts and forms up the 'entertain4' text?

I look forward to mocks from this user for:

British Broadcasting Corporation Channel One In High Definition
Independent Television Channel Two In High Definition One Hour Later
British Sky Broadcasting Sports Channel For Formula One In High Definition

Seriously? Quality of the mock aside (which to be honest are little more than Powerpoint slides), you think Entertain* Four is a better TV brand/logo than E4 which has been steadily built up over 11 years to be a very strong, recognisable logo? You think by lengthening an acronym/initialism to its component words you are improving it? That is an illogical backward step. Think of cumbersome channel names like "True Entertainment", "Sky Living Loves", "Military History" and compare to Bio, Nat Geo, BEN or the actual names of the ones I've (satirically) noted above. E4 works. EntertainFour doesn't.

*Incidentally, E4 stands for Entertainment 4.

The choice of imagery is probably more suited to the current More 4 - especially the nice-but-bland living room / sofa shot!

The URL is definitely the worst judged element - I'm sure it would indeed be illegible on certain sets as has been mentioned. If I had the computer output still routed to a CRT via composite I could have confirmed this, but seeing it looks terrible as-is, that's indication enough, I think.

You could have easily gone for a 'safe' typeface; so it's not a bad thing to try something with a bit of quirkiness to set it apart - but here, the way the type has entirely become the logo is clunky and backward, as expressed above. Again, I don't think it's the right type for the output; I'm getting a vaguely More 4-ish style vibe there as well...

But, I've always wanted my retinas seared by an over-white break bumper - so well done on that one Razz

As said, I think this is completely misdirected. There aren't many TV logos capable of epitomising their channel in their basic form alone, but the current E4 badge does just that. To replace it with a wordmark devoid of similar distinctiveness and charm would be to take a massive backwards step... off a cliff.

The logo font looks extremely awkward, ditto the layout and the name doesn't sit right at all. You might have got some value in going for "entertainment4" with Comedy Central faux-ironic/knowing/arrogant feel, although again I'm not sure whether that would be to misrepresent the channel's core values too. The current look just fits spectacularly well.

The trail endcap isn't bad but the whole thing screams generic lifestyle channel. I'm also getting a faint Dave vibe from the furniture bumper, but without any of the charm and character.

...so essentially what you've done is invoke the spirit of UKTV G2. Neutral

Thanks for all your feedback guys, it is clear here that there is an issue with the logo and issues have spiraled out with the name. I'll try work on these and post a second iteration, however not sure whether I would revert back to E4 rather than entertain four.

My initial idea here was you use "four" rather than "4", so personally I would like to stick to that, however I will try out other methods.
