Daybreak... again

It's another daybreak idea, though I thought I'd post these ideas that I've had. (January 2012)

Like I say in the description, it is yet another Daybreak mock. But it's an idea I have been working on, and I felt a bit left out. As always, let me know what you think.

Logo:

The idea is that the circle would be interpreted as the sun, with the 'flares' around it, the closest used to create the shape of the 'D', and the 'D' & 'flares' can be used across the branding.

Titles Ideas:
*
An idea of how the titles could appear, with sunrises, and round breakfast/morning images that the flares could animate around. With the final shot merging with a high light intensity to become the logo.

Other graphic Ideas:
* (would animate onto the screen, before changing to...)

I think that the clock looks a bit taky but the rest of it works well. I would get fed up of the 'sun' appearing every time something pops up on screen. Good start though..

It's all a bit 70s isn't it? Looks more like something from Good Morning Calendar.

First off, holy jesus it's not just a replication of what's already on screen. Kudos on that.

The titles appear really well thought through in their colour scheme, mood and integration with the sun circle device and have obviously had some care and attention devoted to them. It shows.

Now, the astons... bit flat, no? I'd argue they don't do the dynamic sun circle thingy justice. Perhaps introducing silver/white to the colour scheme, together with less/no burnt orange/brown and the sun circle more subtly integrated within the straps themselves would be easier on the eye. Also can't see that font working too well *everywhere* on screen.

Top work though. Thumbs up

...hm, OK have a Mr. Green instead.

Thank you for your responses so far.

My original idea used Century Gothic as font, to give the rounded ness of letter, and the 'flares' had straight edges, but I felt like a more round font fitted into things a lot better.

Thinking about your comments regarding the captions Jonny, I've had a play about, and come up with this...

Keeping the yellow blending into the white, trying to make the graphics a bit less flat. The logo & clock would animate in the box.

I did get my inspiration from NBC Today (as you can tell).

Also for comparative purposes, a version with Century Gothic.

Start from scratch, the rings could work in the logo, but the fonts used, graphics, etc are horrendous.

This is the best Daybreak mock in the entire gallery... why has it only got 3 stars?

In my opinion, 2nd best daybreak mock, titles look similar to what's already in use & if the ' sun animation' comes on every time something news onscreen then maybe size it down? I like the Name/Live straps etc. Well done! Smile

Thank you for you comments.
The reason that the flares are so big on the on screen graphics is so that the centre fits around the 'D' in the clock, without the clock spilling onto the strap.
I suppose I could look at making the clock smaller.
