With my ITV News mock not going down so well, I decided to upload some Daybreak graphics that i made before the launch and touched up a few days ago

Well done, you fall into the "let's copy Today badly" camp. Further to this, do you only have the one weight of ITV?

Also - use grey backgrounds or borders so we can see where in relation to the screen your graphics are supposed to go - at the moment all I can see is a bunch of floating random shapes.

As well, I can point out many similarities to TV Matters' Daybreak mock but to be quite honest this has put me off it completely.

Personally, I don't think this mock is too bad, and definitely much better than anything JK08 has came out with*, and this is only your second mock. Whilst your mock still has some rough edges, it shows promise.

Firstly, the strange green part of the coloured bars that go along the top of the straps - get rid of the green! Go for something in the colour palette you've chosen, as the green looks out of place and clashes with the other colours.

Secondly, the font. From what Mike W has said, it's the ITV font? And also, from what he's said, you're only using/have one weight. Use the other weights (Bold for Headlines, Standard for ticker text, etc), or change your font altogether. I'm sure you could find a suitable font that would work better than ITV's.

Finally, the ticker itself. There's something about it which doesn't seem right. Maybe it's the colour? Whatever it is, I think it needs changing.

EDIT: It's the font size. You've made it the same size as the clock, when I think it could do with being made smaller, and also a different weight, as mentioned above. At the moment, the text is very close to the ticker boundaries.

*At the time, I thought your comment was dismissive of the mock, like others who can receive negative criticism are, but I think I may have misinterpreted your comment, and apologise.

So, I've changed the background, the font is still ITV but i've changed the weights... any ideas for other fonts?

For the astons to appear on screen, the color bars will slide onscreen then the rest of the aston will drop down
The Color bars will animate, similar to Todays graphics.

I'm sorry about my recent post but it annoys me when people pretty much copy other peoples designs, It looks extremely similar to TV Matters' mock but hasn't been executed as well, there's room for improvement but I would tweak the design a tad.


I'm not sure if you have some sort of problem with me or something, but I didn't see any need for that!

I haven't seen TV Matters mock so can't say the similarities, i'm going to make some changes to the mock, just can't think what

The Sofa area but with a background like NBC Today, it seems to make the studio look more modern
