Purple and white work, though not as well as the black and orange. The purple and orange doesn't quite work.
Keep it up

I'm not overly (God I hate that word) keen on the curve on the clock (specifically the one between the clock and the ticker) but otherwise looking really good.

I do like this, and agree this is the best Daybreak mock done: simple, clean and straight to the point. GREAT!

AfterEffects says 1050 x 576 for SD PAL WS
1280 x 720 is HD [720]
1440 x 1080 is HD [1080]
I think I'll go with Ooh, I'll go 1440 x 1080 then, considering the new Daybreak will be in HD. Thank you Michael
Actually 1440x1080 would be anamorphic (16:9 squashed to 4:3), if anything use 1920x1080 as this would be 16:9, although its HD don't forget about safe areas (16:9 safe etc..)
Right, I'm going to embarrass myself asking this, but I don't know and think it would be better if I did. What's the resolution/size I should use, that is used in TV, so It doesn't look stupid. 720x480 I usually use.
Thanks

There was a thread I made a few years ago, but that no longer works, however I've made a HD revision of the safe area guide, to give you an idea:
