Well stuff you all then if you hate it so much I won't bother and I'm going to quit the forum because you're all being horrible to me..

Oh wait.. this isn't Digital Spy.

So I did have another update with some snazzy things to show you, but then when I started the export it crashed, and I didn't save, and I'm sad. So there's a pro-tip for you all, save often, and having a lot of nested per-compositions within After Effects is not always a good idea.

In terms of other things, MDTA it's not as complicated as it looks, I'm trying to cut corners in terms of ease of setup so as to make the best use of AE features, in this case a lot of the animation is expression controlled rather than keyframe, allowing me to focus more on camera animation and let the lighting and crystal do its thing on its own. As with every tutorial you see online the key with AE is to not just follow tutoirals and make a carbon copy but use the ideas behind them to empower your other work.

So in this case it's as MDTA guessed Element 3D doing the crystal and optical flares doing the moving head lighting, which is very much not what it's intended to do, but having multiple "lights" emitted by also outputting a point cloud render in Element, this is something I can use to track and link elements without having to control every object on its own.

If anyone is interest I'll happily post the AE project file when it's done, but you'll need those plug-ins to get the most out of it.

Next render coming soon. And sorry SRS but I quite like the higher title text as I like the reference to the original, but I may well move it down again for stings and ad break ins/outs.

I have not used Element 3D myself. But it does seem to make sense. Are you using an environment map or some background element to catch the light being reflected off the Crystal?

The horror. I'm sorry for your loss. Loving your work as always.
