This mock is based on one premise. Actually, two premises. What if Central Television regained independence from Carlton in 1998 and what if Central Television decided to keep its "Cake" logo after 1998? Well, here goes....

In 1998, Carlton found itself in a bit of financial trouble and Central Television was wondering on how to escape from Carlton. Central TV eventually found a way to regain independence from Carlton. And that way was for Carlton to sell Central to United News and Media.

NOTE: Credit for 1997-98, 1999, and 2002 ident images goes to TV-ARK.

Not really a mock, but this is what Central Television would still be using in 1997-98 in this alternate universe.

1998, and Central's new owners (United News and Media) move the Cake to the left, the text to the right, and add an URL. The idents are still the same however.

Central Television made a decision to retire the "Cake" logo and revert to using a version of the 1982 "Globe" logo. At the same time, they started using the "Celebrity" idents, but they were due to be short-lived, as Central was planning on a new look one year later.

2003
http://www.uploadimages4free.com/upload/big/central_2003-31184.png
On 30 January 2003, much to the dismay of the ITV Network Centre, Central Television dropped the "Celebrity" idents and introduced a new look that featured a rainbow-colored globe flying from England into space.

2007

ITV1 introduced its most vile collection of idents and a new logo in 2006. Central stomped its feet, refusing to use the 2006 ITV1 idents. Instead, on 31 December 2006, Central produced a new ident to celebrate 25 years of broadcasting to the Midlands.

Like the cake, you've outstayed your welcome.

That's right, you heard me. Awaits Mike W's riposte.

It's okay up until 2002. Why would a company bring back a 20 year old logo? I don't think that would make sense, neither would it for them in a realistic world to a) separate from Carlton or b) separate from the ITV1 brand. But then I guess this is supposed to be a what if.

Also, the 1999-2002 'Central' text would have been in yellow:

Not only is it Channel 4-esque, it IS Channel 4.

Let's see how much of this you made yourself? None of it barring jarring gradient backgrounds from powerpoint.

The Central Cake is Central's device made by them in 1984
The backgrounds with the hearts on are ITV's device from 1999 made by EMP
The Central legend was used from 1982 and made by Central TV

Note after 2002 they get really really awful? Well that;s when it stops being mostly stolen work badly hashed together to the stuff from your own head, your own imagination.

Pass me the vomit bucket and never touch my Central again, you horrid horrid mock beast!

Lukesams, you may as well just shoot this mock into the back of the head and put it out of its misery, its clear you are getting absoloutly nowhere. 2D central cake just doesn't work.

Well, it looks like lukesams is yet another one who doesn't much care about our thoughts and criticisms and is instead posting inside his own little bubble.

Why these people post on a forum when the more obvious format would be a blog or a tumblr (or better yet their hard drive + Windows Picture Slideshow) I don't know. It's such a wasted effort on everyone's behalf.
