This mock is based on one premise. Actually, two premises. What if Central Television regained independence from Carlton in 1998 and what if Central Television decided to keep its "Cake" logo after 1998? Well, here goes....
In 1998, Carlton found itself in a bit of financial trouble and Central Television was wondering on how to escape from Carlton. Central TV eventually found a way to regain independence from Carlton. And that way was for Carlton to sell Central to United News and Media.
NOTE: Credit for 1997-98, 1999, and 2002 ident images goes to TV-ARK.

Central Television made a decision to retire the "Cake" logo and revert to using a version of the 1982 "Globe" logo. At the same time, they started using the "Celebrity" idents, but they were due to be short-lived, as Central was planning on a new look one year later.
