Broadcasting House-Studio E Recreation [new renders!]

With the BBC settled in BH, I thought I'd make a studio E recreation (July 2013)

It's been a while since I last updated my TC7 Thread, so I thought it was time to try something new.

This time it's studio E. No one else seemed to have attempted it, so it looked like the best thing to do. It's not quite as accurate as my TC7, as, other than the few dimensions I've seen around and the knowledge that some of the screens are 103", everything has been worked out with educated guesses, the use of pictures and some very rudimentary measuring techniques. Never the less, I think (and hope!) that these renders stand up to reasonable scrutiny against screen caps.

Take a look and let me know what you think...

I also made a couple of globes to put into the renders, I know they're nowhere near Mdtauk's amazing recreation, but they'll do.

P.S. I know you hate the 'mold men' (all of which have been set to the average height of a UK male), but they give reference to the size of everything else, as well as the lighting.

More to come!

When I saw the thread title, I was all ready to see another random sketchup atrocity, with an aircraft hanger sized studio, cameras from the 70s, more lights than an arena concert and rendering which looks worse than the results of a baby let loose with a white wall and a new pack of crayons. Then the first image loaded...

Well done.

Very well done.

Next time we have a studio idea with the features I listed (it's inevitable Sad), I shall be linking the culprit to this thread to show them what to aim for.

Superb - once again it's a fantastic recreation. Would like to see a bit more of the newsroom, though, and I'm just being picky now, but the glass seems to have some weird thing happening to it, in a reflection or something.

Really superb - very well done. I had been working on Studio E myself but this really blows mine out of the water - fantastic detail and scaling.

Amazing! Keep up the good work dg6!!

Outstanding... one of the best mocks on here in ages.

It puts the crappy virtual set used by BBC Domestic to shame.

Well. Thank you very much for your kind comments!

Critique: Thanks for pointing out the glass, although I can't really help you as I don't know which piece of glass you're talking about-there's quite a lot of it!

As for the newsroom-I have a confession. The newsroom and the studio are not in the same file. The sheer size of the newsroom and the need to create something of reasonable detail meant that render times would be atrocious, so I separated them out Smile

The picture below is the 360 degree render of the 'newsroom' which I mapped behind the studio walls.

Anyway, I'm quite glad you didn't notice! I'll try and work on the newsroom and get some more accurate renders out.

I'm making progress on the newsroom. It wont be as detailed as the studio, but will hopefully make sense. In the meantime, here's another render from the end of the TOTH camera movement:
