DO
Important Notice
- when using Fireworks and you want to save a PNG file -
DO NOT
just use the Save / Save As commands. Always use the Export command.
This is because when you just save the file, you also save copies of all the layers and components in the file, including any that are unused, as well as things like fonts and symbols - all of which make the files massive.
Take your first image - it's 1.22MB in size. If I export it as a PNG (which strips away all the extra information) it drops to 437KB - less than a third of the size. For this sort of image, you'd be even better off exporting as a JPEG, where the file drops to 72KB - about 5% of the size of your original file. The smaller files mean it takes you less time to upload, takes up less of your hard drive and loads quicker (about 20x if you exported as JPEGs) for everyone viewing your mock.

G4
This may seem harsh, but this mock is poorly conceived and poorly executed. The BBC News graphics are boring and poor across the board as it is, but this fails to improve on the current set while making them cluttered and disjointed in the process. It's a full redo.
That being said, you do seem to have put a considerable amount of effort into this mock, which is commendable... the results just weren't a success.
