I’m today uploading my pictures for the refresh of the whole BBC News department, well hopefully, I have remembered most of it! As because of the BBC News soon moving to Broadcasting house, I’d thought I’ll give it a try to re-brand the department after their previous re-brand in 2008, I thought it was about time to give them a new look! I got inspiration from the mock of BBCLDN, and thought it was so good; I’ll try to design my own too.

I don’t know if I’ve done good thinking of the ‘safe areas’. There is a couple of mistakes probably, like spelling and graphic hitches.

Your feedback is well appreciated. Some of you may not like this, so don’t just comment ‘Don’t like this’ if you don’t live this, tell me what part you don’t like about it and tell me how I could improve, and I’ll try to do an update of that design/photo.

Thank you, and enjoy! Don’t get bored!

6:00 It's Breakfast time! And a slight change it is this morning, The titles has no change, except to the name, the 'BBC' logo before the 'Breakfast name is removed as because from the 'BBC News' logo, we already know this is a BBC program.
*

06:01 DOG, and clock is welcomed to Salford, they look the same as the current News DOG and Clock with the DOG background, Orange
*

Lets say Good Morning to Bill & Susanna, just for the ones who don't know who they are, the Name aston is arriving
*

And once the background is in place, the text swipes on, similar to the current style
*

Both the names and aston swipes off to the right leaving a full view of the presenters, bringing the headlines
*

06:05 Bill & Susanna has now finished going through the headlines, a VT is now being shown about tube drivers going on strike for the Olympic games, this story is presented by Jenny Hill
*

After watching the video from Jenny, she can now join us LIVE in one of the trains, and is having an interview with one of the tube drivers, Mary Piper...
*

06:06 ...The LIVE bug is introduced.
*

06:25 'Still to come on Breakfast' Gary Barlow & Cheryl Cole is in the studio for an interview...
*

... but first Regional news time! Breakfast signs of for 4 minutes, but no new look for Breakfast yet!
*

More to come

I had a small amount of hope for this mock when I opened it - the title slide, despite being mostly Martin's work, looked okay, but then the OSG, and Gill Sans Ultra, or whatever it is, appeared... It basically looks like a poor imitation of BBC LDN's work. I'm trying something like this, but I've spent more than a half hour on it.

[img][/img]Lets fast forward a bit....
08:00 Breakfast continues over on BBC One, the News Channel begins with the new look, 30 minutes earlier, It's headlines time! Both the BBC News logo, and Headline background wipes from the left...
*

...And the headlines wipes on after...
*

I've only shown the one headlines here, but they're will be many like usual!
The Headline bar will swipe to the right and logo will swipe to the right too, (I don't know what I've mucked up here on the logo Confused)
*

08:01 The titles are simular to the current ones... Here I've took the 'News' out of the logo and moved it to the left centre like on Regional news programs? Good idea? Confused...
*

...News at 1...
*

...News at 6...
*

...News at 10...
*

...And the News Channel's News at 5? The 5 looks bad, don't you think?!Confused
*

The DOG appears for the first time, like the current way, the logo swipes up fom the bottom and locks into position! Do you like my backdrop? Wink
*

Once the dog is locked into position, the clock swipes from the right of the DOG, get what I mean?
*

The ticker is starting to appear, the Headlines white background first swipes up, then the 'HEADLINES' follows
*

The grey ticker bar swipes to the right from the headline block/name...
*

The headlines now scroll in from the right, similar to currently, the first couple of words of the headline and bold!
*

When it is the end of a headline part, and a new headline scrolls through they are split by a bullent point dot, still like currently.
*

The ticker doesn't just show 'Headlines' it also shows the 'Business' headines too, Buisness will take a Blue colour, from the colour of World Business Report . The first couple of words in bold will be in blue to match the block
*

The bullet point dot will also be in Blue too...
...*

Lets say Hello to Emily and Jon! Their astons swipe in from the left with the name...
*

...And it'll look like this!
*

08:02 Sport headlines now, and takes the yellow from BBC Sport branding.
*

Interactive takes on the BBC iPlayer's purple
*

Have your say takes a bright green!
*

08:05 I've realised I've talked about the Queen in the headlines, but now talking about the purchase of airline BMI from Lufthansa, the headline aston swipes on just like the Name astons do!
*

A report from Heathrow is shown now, and just for the ones who don't know where Nick is reporting, the location bug is showing, and also the Name aston is on to show who this guy reporting, really is! At this moment it's coming to the end of the Sport headlines.
*

08:06 A LIVE report now from Heathrow, and the LIVE bug remains the same look, but in a different place on screen
*

08:16 Business news now, and a report on the computer problems at Natwest... Just because it's business news, the business ticker doesn't have to be on-screen.
*

Business Headlines round up, and this headline about Tesco selling London 2012 products in their stores from now till after the Paralympics.
*

Another Business headline now, and Simon has news about the London Underground profits, blah blah! The ticker is showing Interactive news
*

08:17 A LIVE report at Cockfosters Tube Station, and the LIVE bug is blue to represent this is a Business report
*

08:24 Just before the weather, Sports news has moved to before the half past o'clock , This report is live in Ukraine about Euro 2012
*

LIVE now in the Sports centre at Salford now, and the sport headlines, Yellow on white to say 'Sport headlines' you couldn't read well, so the BBC Sport logo is shown instead. Have your say ticker is shown for the moment.

Right were to start:

Yes there are a load of images, which would have been better in JPG.

06:00: Just the standard BBC Breakfast globe, but with a slightly different 'BBC News' logo and Breakfast text (not aligned) outside the safe-area.
06:01: The 'BBC' has been squashed and that orange is not appealing. The standard boring white namestrap, with huge names, which at that big, don't sit comfortable with the edges of the box. Then when it disappears the boldness machine turns off?
06:05 This is a problem isn't it, the upper-case 'R' which would have collided with that 'J'? The 'J' should have also been more aligned with the BBC logo.
06:06 So 'LIVE' can be white on black then, but not the BBC Breakfast logo, and then dark grey and light grey?
06:25 Needs a bigger gap in-between

08:00 Aahhh why is the logo squashed? Why is the spacing around not equal on all sides aligned together?
08:01 This is News BBC or BBC News, why that awful boxed BBC on it's own? Now that's a problem with Gill Sans is the lack of serif on the '1' so 'l O'CLOCK NEWS' does not look particularly well, however there is a way in which the BBC has done it to include a version. Not so sure the '1', '6' and '10' work on the globes.

Pretty much the standard BBC News channel logo and clock, with the bottom chopped off. But then it comes to 'Business' blue which is hardly that readable on grey.

Again the namestraps are ugly.

The Sport colour is readable, but then Interactive is not, and then an ugly green.

Good luck from reporting live from anything longer that 'Heathrow T5'.

Oh Interactive is back, with a different colour? Yes from #CC0066 to #CC3366.

*Scroll*

Ugly in-vision report screen, ugly 'What do we already know' box..

*Scroll*

You see it gets ugly when 'Heathrow T5' is not were the reporter is, Downing Street is something we will be seeing on the live strap a lot and really does not fit. But yet Cairo is shot enough to warrant a big live box?

This reminds me of like the mock that was posted not so long back (by BBC LDN I think), even down to the way you're posting them (with a storyline and gallons of description).

Why does there need to be reporters in Downing Street and Cairo for an Amsterdam related piece?

Literally, all you have done, is take BBC LDN's mock, reword the storyline, and then recreate some of his graphics, and not very well.

Some of the new things he introduced are what you've introduced, and you've even copied ticker colours...

The thing is, you've taken the most boring graphics on television and made them worse. They're now even more lifeless and disjointed. And the little colourful elements added to differentiate them from reality have blatantly been lifted from BBC LDN's mock. And made worse.

So... a recreation/revision that is neither an accurate recreation nor an original revision.
