The Box Plus Network

Hi, As you may have seen I did my MTV mock, now I'm trying to recreate The Box Plus Network, so this includes The Box, 4Music, Kiss, SmashHits, Magic, Heat & Kerrang!

The reason why I wanted to recreate these are that every channel has its own identity, which is better for me as with MTV all I had to do was change the colours to create graphics from a template.

I have worked on this for about three weeks so far, I started with 4Music, I'm pretty sure that the typeface 4Music uses is a custom font that network commissioned called Interlude. So for about three days I had to recreate the typeface letter by letter from an image from the company who I believe created the typeface.
I also spent about a day recreating the 'flash' transition in-between the music videos.



I next created The Box, this one only took about a day to create, the type face isn't the correct one, but I have since found the correct typeface. (Slight error in the export, when the 'box' opens to reveal the song title its flashes on an off in places, this only appeared in the export, not in the edit.)



Then I created SmashHits, this one I'm not going to continue with I don't think as on Wednesday 25th May (so in about 4 days), as part of a rebrand SmashHits and Heat are becoming Box Hits and Box Upfront and the 4Music Twitter & Facebook pages become BeBox, so I don't see any point in continuing with SmashHits & Heat but I'll still create Heat.



For now I'm recreating so that I can get a sense of how everything animates, but then I will try and create some different ideas for each channel.

Don't really get what you're doing here - seems to just be uploading 10 minute videos to show a few seconds of text. I do appreciate it's taken you time and effort to recreate the fonts, but it's probably time and effort you'd be better off putting into something else.

Probably should have explained that bit, what I wanted to do was get the actual song title animations precise first before I started to move onto the logo animations, programme title animations, now/next animation, etc.

I did 3 music videos for 4Music to show off the flash transition and I just carried on and did three videos for the other channels.
and also the fact that I use these for my personal use.

Was there really any need to have full length music videos each time? Surely just play the beginning of the song, then skip to the end etc?

Animations are good, but as a mock, they just get lost.

I'll say in advance that I know some members of TVF don't see the point in recreations, but this is all about you will see, if you do have this view then you are welcome to stay or leave.

Since two of The Box Plus Network's channels, SmashHits and Heat, have rebranded as Box Upfront and Box Hits on the 25th May 2016, I have been working on creating all of the main aspects of each channels graphics package (these include the DOG, the programme title, the song title, the Now and Next information and a transition if the channel uses one). As you can see by the rebrand date I have spent a roughly a month recreating these graphics for all seven channels of The Box Plus Network.

Some did take longer than others but I wanted to be able to supply the graphics I listed as people highlighted that for my first post I only did the song title graphics which only made up about 20 seconds of a 10 minute video.

The order in which the videos are listed are the order in which I created them. One error (or I suppose three) are that on all three Box titled channels the Now and Next information graphic is not to the best standard this is because they have a gradient background for both the box and the text and they are supposed to be slightly transparent so it's harder to get the right chroma keying, so the NOW and NEXT text towards the bottom just disappears in a few places.

With this one to obtain the 3D cube elements I had to make them in Keynote, but since Keynote doesn't really allow Entrance and Exit animations at the same time which is what I would have needed to accurately recreate the graphics, I've tried to make do with the best I could create.


Kiss:


At the moment these are just the foundations of the entire graphics package for each, I'm also going to create the countdown number graphics and any additional graphics, but these will not contain music videos so I can quickly present each different graphic.

I also have plan (which I may or may not do) in which I will also recreate the graphics for the chart shows on The Box Plus Network like the UKHotlist and The UK Music Video Chart, but I would get all the other graphics out of the way before creating these if I were to recreate them.

(Final Note) If you find it more useful to judge each video on, I will post a video of the screen recordings I used to recreate each graphics package if it is of any help.

I really like these. The animations must have taken a lot of work to get right and you've clearly put in a lot of effort. Good job.

As someone who sometimes works on these channels and puts these graphics to air, I have to say these are really well done. Very accurate recreations.

Nice video. I think it was a good idea to condense down all of the graphics into one video so we can see them altogether. I think these are really nicely executed, especially the 'vote for the next song' ones. Good job.
