The Big BBC News Studio Refresh Mock Thread

I'm attempting to update the studio for every BBC News programme that needs it into BH style (November 2013)

Good Execution, as all ways; but I'm not to keen on this idea. From what I gather I assume that Business is coming from the sofa - I just don't like the idea that everything comes from the sofa as that would just look a bit closed off and odd as it just has a single screen all the way around. I think that as has been said already it needs a backdrop of some kind rather than an animation. Also so is it intentionally dark?

It appears that I've caused some confusion in regards to that image, so many apologies. It was just a teaser image, to make sure I wasn't going completely mad, and not the final product. As it happens, that is one half of the set, with the other half a more traditional (yet untraditional) newswall style set-up. The background is simply a stopgap as I have no access to any decent quality Breakfast backdrops. There were no other lights in the studio in the image apart from light being emitted from screens, the iPad etc - it wasn't lit!

It does look really good and much better than what we have now. I'm not overly convinced it could fit in that space but as you seem to have done your homework I'll take your word for it!

This is very impressive. All of these designs are brilliantly executed and, I believe, are much better than what they would replace.

In the Breakfast studio, I presume that it would be possible for the NWT desk to be placed on the rostrum, if a desk were to return to Breakfast -which personally I would like to see happen.

Right, I've made quite a few updates to the original Salford studio so I thought I'd post the updates:

BBC Northwest

Okay, so as previously stated, this studio is based around the 360 degree panorama of the studio, and also scraps of info I've found and images of the studio. There are two sides to the studio - one with the main sofa set and the other with three large plasma screens, to be used in a newswall kind of way. This side is supposed to be adaptable, and used for performances (or the desk area on NWT). Meanwhile, the left side is quite simple and effectively a smaller version of Studio B - in this latest version it even has the coloured panels, which would ideally be lightweight enough to move behind the main screen with not needed. Both sides of the set now have the coloured LED strip lights above them now, and the left has a 'roof ring' (I can't think of a better way to describe it), which is attached to the ceiling.

The Breakfast mock isn't that different from the original - the only real changes are the side panel and the LED strip above the screens.

NWT is a bit different to the original, however. In addition to the side panels and new LED strips, the backdrop is some rough thing I knocked up from SD screenshots of the titles, along with drawing in some placename lines and writing - I imagine it would animate, or be replaced by something better!

Apologies for the Late Kick Off backdrop - there's nothing of higher resolution!

That is brilliant! So would the side panels roll behind the screen...much like a toilet door on a train does I suppose? Laughing
