The only issue I have is that the phosphor bars "meant something" on the pre-1997 BBC Video logo, i.e. they animated on, remained and then formed part of the logo. On this, the lines animate in and out for no reason in particular.
How about having phospher bars come in to form the BBC blocks, with something similar coming in to form some VIDEO text?

I realise it's not exactly what you suggested but let me know what you think.
It's just my two cents, but I prefer the second piece of music you used when you did the three variations. The slightly less morbid version suits the considerably friendlier logo. But that's just my opinion.
