Just a few things I was playing with. Current package doesn't fit the 90s idents. I didn't particularly like the NI one and definitely not the Network one so I decided to make a logo that would match the BBC One style.
By the way, just mentioning that Francis has very similar mock which I was inspired from to extend upon it.
Here's a few tests with the nations

Here's it with a ident

And heres a few tests with endboards and junction slides.

Well... I certainly know where you got your ideas from. Rolling Eyes

For what it's worth though you've made that look work quite well. It looks good, much better than my attempts. A bit inconsistent in places, but good.

This looks far too similar to Francis' mocks. However, this is not the mock's only problem.

The "BBC TWO" logo doesn't stay in the same place in the trails and menus. The logo is on the left on the menus but is on the right on the trails and breakdown slide. The logo has disappeared on the Action Line slide - where is the consistency?

A good attempt but it needs work. 3/5

What the hell is that on the Action Line slide? Spotted it straight away, that BBC logo is too square, the letters are to large and too light and the boxes are too far apart.

And for those of you who are thinking of recreating the BBC logo, please be aware that 'BBC' isn't actually in Gill Sans Roman/MT.

Agree with Cavan the logo moving all over the place doesn't work - makes it as much a mess as it is now. BBC Two NI have the right idea - all they need to do really is drop the box completely and always ensure the text logo is centred (can easily be done!)

I might work with the NI idea though having the centered logo might cause a few problems with the endboard design I have.

That was a copy on my computer that I had. For some reason I guess I couldn't tell the difference when I was working with it. Shocked. It's amazing how detailed some people know the logo.

I guess most of us enjoy the NI centred logo better so I might keep working on those ideas instead. It works fine with the current endboard but not with the one I had and neither some other elements. Though I definitely should've focused more on continuity. Thanks for some of the feedback as that really helps me in making better ones.

That BBC logo will have come from the "TV Logos" font, I've got the same copy. It's hideous, and I don't suggest using it.

I don't have a problem with you trying your hand at this, as the BBC1 logo is not my work. Just don't use this for your endboard idea Wink

Aesthetics and design aside, I think you can safely judge this ident's quality on the fact the mocker thinks that Newsnight is on at 5:30. And that Paxman is still hosting it.

Just as an example. You really thought that I think Newsnight is on at 5:30?

Tip : If you don't want people to think you think that, DON'T DO IT!
