BBC TV Rebrand Project

I had always assumed they were in Gill Sans Demi.

Google does sometimes do that. This is the official version, if I recall correctly the letters are in a custom Semibold weight of Gill Sans.

BBC Arts sounds like a good start, you could try experimenting with the current Arts logo if you want - move the BBC logo to the left and it'd match up pretty well.

Sometimes on these mocks there isn't much more to say than I just don't like them. Neither the text logos or numeric logo appeal I'm afraid.

These are not as bad as some of the other mocks described as "Bad", you are improving I must say. Continue to improve these by:

Removing the 1 and the 4 in the background, replace the 1 with a globe or something and leave the four blank except the text.
Improve the fonts and make them more stand out.
Definitely try to improve the iPlayer logo, it looks cheap.

Do not give up this, I've seen mocks that started awful and then improve, and this has the potential to do so, if you follow advice.

It looks like a different weight of Gotham and I may do that. It depends.

I'll put what you said in my thoughts of if I want to keep the current logo/box style.

Thankyou for the kind words, Matthew! Yeah, the name change from BBC Four to BBC Arts is a definite (for me) so the 4 is going. I may put a different object in the 1, not sure about the globe though. "Numerals with Style" will be discontinued in the sence of how i originally planned it to be and the evolution of that theme may involve different objects which stand for the channel. Or something else, but I don't know yet! This "V2 of Numerals with Style" was an inspiration of the BBC First Logo text and bbc logo placement

Alright, before we continue with the "Numerals with Style" version of the mock, I would like to share on what I might want to do with the logos.

And don't worry Francis, your iPlayer logo you made has been adapted for the type.

Seems like a step back to me, sorry. The text just looks odd placed under a much larger BBC logo.

There's some minor distortion on the BBC logo. Do you ever use this button on Photoshop?

I have a few different ideas of my own but I'm not going to spam your thread anymore - I'll put it on my own.

It's better, not overly exciting though, but still why not rebrand BBC Parliament?

I use the Ctrl+T command usually to maintain the ratio.


With these logos, I'm putting the personality back to the idents.
BBC Parliament? We'll see.

In my opinion the Arts one is fine, the others are a step back.
