OK, by saying they were all SL18 is an over exageration. I believe that was somewhere about 16.5. GMT is SL 18 and Focus on Africa is about SL 18.5. I think the reason Newsnight is so grainy is that the white lights are turned down slightly, which causes a grainier image. Also the Size changes time - e.g. this...

...went from 0-12 in 4 1/2 Minutes (I didn't make the model just altered it (Bonus marks for guessing the story though)). Where as a Studio'll take 45 Minutes - 1 hour and with Focus on Africa I just selected that half of the studio.

Also, the coffee table is based on the BBC MPA one and just to fit in with the current look, IMO, the red bits look better at the side of the desk. But we are all entitled to our opinion - but I will change the Sofa. Any other non-render related criticisms.

Screen Images from TV Live. And Yes I am aware that the small screen is displaying BBC London Graphics but South East Today doesn't yet have Coloured Titles.

It is alright, no where near as good as the London mock idea! Needs rendering, right?

Care to elaborate.

Thing is with SET are a lot more limited so you get a lot less room to play around with, plus it has those two awkward columns in the middle of the studio. For SET I've gone a lot more Studio E for the main news desk as TW has an actual Newsroom Backdrop. The Second area is again based on Studio B. However the Studio has a lot less ceiling height and is just very difficult to work with. It's in that area where it can have two areas but at the same time is a tad pushed for space.

It's not as big as Bristol or Southampton but it is bigger than Hull and Birmingham, also if you just wanted to have a news desk it's very hard to do as either if you have it at either end there is so much wasted space but the studio is almost a 2:1 Ratio so is incredibly hard to have it with the long wall as the Back Wall and it has a column half way down presumably from before conversion.

I'd have the main area only, making it larger and using a different screen setup, with the height adjustable desk and space to move in soft chairs.

How do you mean make it larger. Larger Rostrum? Move it to the centre?

At the moment, you have the whole studio filled with the main area PLUS the soft area, I'd remove the soft area and make the main area take up the empty space, replace the desk with the rising coffee table and allow space for soft chairs.

So if this is the Original Design Floorplan

Are you suggesting something like this?

Where is the Sunday Politics Coffee Table going to be?

I'd have the outer bar on the rostrum that they have in Studio B, C & E and for Sunday Politics, I'd collapse the desk down and remove the outer 'ring' of the tabletop.

While that is possible, these set mocks are ideas that are supposed to be affordable. Also having a changeable height desk is probably more expensive than both a Normal Desk and a Coffee Table combined and within a matter of weeks the outer ring of the table and the central black part of the desktop would look terrible.

In addition to that you've got half a studio unused, nowhere for the Sunday Politics Coffee Table and unnecessary costs like the lightbox bar on the rostrum.

I've gone away and sort of rethought DanielK's comments and have changed some of the set.

While, I have kept the LED Wall for things such as Sport and Sunday Politics, I have enlarged the rostrum moved it forward, rebuilt the desk and moved the screens around. The Desk would be a simple Slide up and down desk and the rostrum would be on a forward/back rail system so that the second area can be utilised for Sunday Politics.

The desk, where would a guest sit if they are being interviewed?
