Here is my idea for Studio D which remains the only Studio at W1 to not be in use and will be primarily used for BBC London News. It combines elements from Studios B, C and E.

Sorry about the poor quality renders particular on Image B it's just that as I have previously mentioned my great but slow render takes so bloody long I didn't want to commit to full quality renders until I had heard feedback about the actual Studio Idea.

To Explain. Firstly it fits well within the actual Space of Studio D. To the left of the Camera view. Is the Soft Area which is used for Breakfast/Late Kick Off and Sunday Politics London say if Millbank was out of use. This has a simple rostrum in which you can put Furniture on and is backed up by the 4 1.5m Square LED Panels. And to the side is the Platform/Analysis/Sport Area with 1 Plasma screen. Also to point out that is a mirror and the platform area does not go behind the LEDs, I just thought it would be more interesting than a grey panel.

To the right of the Camera view, is the News Desk which again also sits on a rostrum. However that is backed up by 2 LEDs on the furthest left, and 4 Newsroom Backlit Panels which could easily be replaced with LEDs if cost wasn't an issue but when they'dd probably only use two it makes sense to go for a cheaper option. In between the two sections a sort of Studio C Monitor Stack section and in the middle is the Weather Green Screen.

It is a very good design and good imagination too! I see your designs are improving from previous mocks posted on the site, going back to your N6 designs!

If they were rendered better and weren't grainy which I don't understand how yours get grainy and Critique's and JordyBoy's aren't. Is there a way of them not getting grainy?

Well done!
I wonder if needed if Studio D will become another program during the day as an alternative and recovery studio, image BBC World News programs decamping into that studio if the current is out of use? Maybe a few designs for that?

Thanks. The reason I believe that my renders are so grainy and take so long as opposed to other posters is that I use Maxwell Render which is a different type of renderer, which does lighting in a different way. I could try and get rid of the grain using image manipulation software and will try with that.

Also I believe that Studio D will be used as a recovery studio and was wondering whether it would be used for BBC News at Nine instead of Studio A. Obviously certain world programmes would clash with BBC London's schedule so would have to decamp else where but I'll have a go at GMT or Global.

I like your studio mocks; it's a shame I can't amplify the other images; good job!

In Maxwell, if you set your SL setting to quite a high number, somewhere around 17 or 18, and have the patience to wait while it renders, then you should get images that are pretty clear of grain. But they do take at least an hour to render, if not longer.

These renders are around SL15. In my thread 'Studio B Hybrid' those are near grainless and are SL18 although that does take 12 hours.

Can I reiterate - these images are just examples as I wanted people to comment on how to improve them, I would obviously put full renders up when someone actually gives me some non-render related feedback.

They seem a bit on the grainy side to me...

The layout/design is brilliant, a few problems that I see though, the sofa looks really bare, it would look better if the base was thicker like the Breakfast sofa. The red parts of each table/desk, imo, should always be in the centre of the desk rather than to the side.

I wonder whether it would be useful if you posted the settings you have - there might be someone who knows about the software who can assist in making a good render workable.
