Instead of getting these muddled up in my Recreations thread I decided to start a new one.

I know that most regions will not get a new set now for a couple of years, but I wondered what it would be like if they all had a set based around the design elements of Studio B, C (and E). I started off by researching the size of the Studios, some are of course larger - The Newcastle one is apparently larger than TC7 by 3ft, BBC London I got from the One Show planning permission schematic and some I have simply had to guess. Well so far I have done BBC London, BBC Look North (NE) and BBC CI. Comments and Criticism welcome.

BBC Channel Islands.

These look like they've been chucked together. They're generally quite poor designs, and whilst you so they lead on from Studios B, C and E, where does the square desk come from? There are quite a few elements which look cheap and poor - I'm not convincing by the dimensions either.

That square desk reminds me of Newsnight back in TC7 these days.

Thanks for your comments.

The Square Desk was just to see what the desk would look like if it were rectangular.

Anyway I'd thought I would upload this video to show how the London Studio would be used.

Sorry About the Aspect Ratio.

So I take it from the comments so far that they haven't been well received and looking back at them they don't really fit in. So what I've done is I have set about redesigning London and NE&C. Not the Channel Islands however as a circular set would be a waste of space in that small studio.

Anyway in the meantime here is a BBC Persian Set.

The Middle two screens could easily be replaced with the window.

You really need to work out how to use that renderer. I think I posted a link before about it.

I think it's also quite a poor renderer. Thanks for the advice.

Here is something I have been working on also - BBC Look North (Yorkshire)

With the renderer the main problem here was the sofa which is velvet and takes so long to render.

Oh Yeah and please don't take the p out of the text - It's quite hard to talk about the set with out sounding like a bit of an idiot.

Clearly your computer isn't powerful enough to handle it (therefore for it to work properly it will take ages to render), or you have set it up incorrectly.

One renderer I know works properly is Kerkythea, so you might want to try that.

Thanks - The Kerkythea website is currently down though.

Also it would be great to have some feedback on the mock from anyone.

Erm, the thing of jump out at me is the lack of curves - it's been an unfortunately persistent element in all your mocks for sometime, and does detract from it somewhat as instead of a circular desk which, erm, BBC News actually use, we have a dodecagon or something. I know Daniel K always says something like 'Hit entity info and put a 0 onto the number of sides', and someone pipes up that you shouldn't because it slows down the model and you don't always need 240 sides to a shape, but it would probably do you a world of good here.

Also, I think it looks quite cramped and that the sofa doesn't really match up with the rest of the design. Wales Today had some sort of sofa arrangement before their studio was redone, and they've opted for chairs instead, and I can see why.

It's okay, but it isn't great.

I have now stopped using Maxwell Render and started using Kerkythea instead however does anyone else who uses it find that the fact that it looks like it is going to take approximately 40 hours to render 1 image is a bit to long or is that just my computer.

At risk of sounding like a gaming/PC forum: Post your specs!
