Hi, thought I'd post my 3D version of the BBC News Channel studio - I know it's still quite rough with a few bits of backdrop needing adjustment and sharpening up a bit, and would look nicer with a render. I will do that soon.

Here it is so far anyway (excuse my lazy capping skills with the taskbar and program in view):

Where is the "real" studio backdrop image from? Lightwell don't have the final version with frosting?

I don't know how he did it, but TVMocker14 has a reflection on the desk in his 'Sunrise' mock. I think that'd add to realism + improve a very nice mock.

Like Bail, I'm also interesting in the backdrop.

I've been using caps of the actual studio, and stitching bits of the backdrop together - it's a bit difficult though because they are poor quality and they are hard to stretch to the correct size.

I think he's been using a 3D modeling program that also has a rendering component, something which Google Sketchup doesn't have.

I don't think using Sketchup detracts from DrewF's mock at all, it's the most faithful mock of N6 that I've seen!

Another update to my mock on N6, I'm always tweaking with it:

I've managed to do the N6 night backdrop to fairly good quality (I have better quality caps of this to use so it's easier!)

This is a mock of the BBC Weekend News - with Julie Somerville and Olly Foster on the sport. The last closing shot has Julia facing the camera - sorry about that, they are face-me flat objects so they look even worse otherwise...but very handy for everything else!

Any opinions or criticisms welcome!

Brilliant recreation.

One slight suggestion is you need to recess the red panel on the front of the desk back slightly, as it isn't flush with the silver parts. Other than that very good

Hello again - made quite a few improvements to this mock since the last post a while back. The desk has been completely remade and everything is much more accurately shaped and scaled. Click on the pictures to see them larger and in more detail.

It hasn't been rendered (yet), wasn't sure if it was worth it.

Excellent update! Would improve it if it was rendered - the render on James' Price-drop made me realise how much better a render looks.

Any chance of seeing the Skethcup file?

The videowall (sorry, I'm not a TV boffin) is a bit off. Maybe you should try setting the texture that part of the wall grey?

Good gracious, is the ticker frozen/broken down again or something?! And do those presenters even move?? Very wooden and robot like if you ask me. My God!

Only joking, Drew. Some good work there. Smile
