Although fairly similair to the current BBC News graphics, I think this looks brings a vibrant refresh and a splash of colour to the current graphics. Is this any good? Shall I continue?
I know...it was made on Powerpoint, but it's what I'm comfortable with.

The ticker is a special one for the Euro 2012 with a BBC Sports look.
The graphics stick to the 4:3 box look

Why does the news have to be colourful?

So you know it looks horrible, but you're still gonna use it cause it's 'familiar'. Rolling Eyes

I don't care what software was used to create it, the question is does it look good - does it improve or offer an imaginative alternative to what's already on screen?

And if you don't think it does, why post it?

Love the idea of putting the BBC News stacked logo included too, not quite sure on the colour of the breaking news section, why the need for the big gap before the 'BREAKING NEWS'

Is this LIVE footage from Tahrir Square, if it is, how would people know this?

The Calibri font on the ticker is a big NO; love the Euro 2012 logo though, just a change to the ticker background, font and it's colour

Good start!

You are still showing no signs of improvement. Poorly executed malformed idea.

You know he didn't design that?

Where would the clock go? When there is no strap on screen, what happens to the logo?

If the BBC News logo is going to be used in box form, it needs to be consistent with the titles. Is it practical? Bright red strap (and next to the logo as well - jarring) plus unnecessary use of gradients doesn't look good.

Yellow for Breaking News does not suit. The ticker is the worst element of all: yellow and black, then perilously near the bottom edge so it's not safe, but just as difficult to understand is why the text is noticeably bigger and clearer to read (or rather it might be, if safe) than the main strap itself; the proportions should be evened out.

I would have liked to have said this was at least fairly tidy, but the ticker is inexcusable. If I were to rate on the basis of changes made, it's only about a 1 & ½.

You've stuck with Gill (fine, but no change there) and the lower third isn't full of gaps between the elements, but that's all I can say is alright. The rest of it, nah. Just not thought out very well.

This is far too colorful, you're not painting the Sistine Chapel. All those colours are headache inducing.
You need a clock and a LIVE tag. And easier to read straps, as mentioned earlier by another poster. And get rid of that annoying gap between "Breaking News" and "Egypt Election".

The software is as good as it's user, except in the case of Powerpoint where you can see the results a mile off. At least TRY using paint.net or GIMP, both of which are free downloads and, used correctly, will at least stop these looking like Powerpoint presentations.

Why? So what does the normal one look like then?

Apart from the fact they don't as previously stated, it's too close to the bottom of the frame.
