BBC News

These new graphics I have created are just a little bit of a refresh. I've always preferred the grey 'Coming Up' straps which are sometimes used on the News Channel, I find that white is the new colour nearly every news channel so I've decided to change the white to grey.

The straps themselves are a lot like CNN's new ones, not full screen in width, creating a minimal look. I decided that only the BBC logo would be shown on screen, instead of BBC News. I think everybody realises that their watching the news so the BBC logo is all whats needed. BBC World News would also only display the BBC logo and they would also display the BST/GMT clock as BBC Arabic does.

Also, I've decided that these graphics are for HD, so lets pretend the BBC is in HD for a moment!

I don't really see how this has made an improvement to the current graphics. I also don't see why you need to ditch 'News' from the logo.

To improve
Make your text a bit bigger. I don't think they'll be big enough on smaller TVs.
Put your live BUG where it is on BBC News currently - otherwise what would it look like without a strap there?

It's very nice. I like it.

I would say darken the red on the 'BBC' block, because at the moment it's a little garish, and try to throw some black in there somewhere.

The fonts are too small; on smaller screens they could be unreadable. If you are making these for HD you don't need to account for safe areas unless it will be a simulcast. Apart from that, very good, but I don't see the need for a "BBC" or "BBC News" logo at the bottom in my opinion.

I like the small gap between the clock/ticker and the strap, and the way the strap size changes to fit the information, but don't like the colours.
