What started as a quick mockup image, has become a fully animated mock of the BBC News titles in their 2000 style, but using the colours from the current brand.

2 Days of work, from a quick 10 min image mock. You have Lee Seaman to thank for these, he persuaded me to do them!

Technically excellent as always, though the description doesn't quite match the video.

There's an awful lot more grey than there should be if you're aiming to be true to the 'colours from the current brand'; the background in the current-era visuals is predominantly and overwhelmingly white, so that grey elements can show up on the white background.

I assume that your aim was to also respect the balance of how the current colour is palette is used, and not just taking the current colours and using them liberally, but perhaps you preferred to use a little bit of creative licence. If you did, then of course that's fair enough; it just wasn't made clear from your description.

A couple more things - first, the logo form-up is a little odd; I don't think that that animation was used in the main titles at any point (I think it may have been used in stings or idents though). The animation for the form-up in the titles featured two overlapping ellipses spinning round before the logo appeared on top.

Finally, the music is actually from the 2002 update (which got a slightly more 'upbeat' mix), and not the original 2000 titles.

As I say, the quality of the work here is not at fault, but since I know you're a perfectionist, I hope you'll appreciate these little flaws being pointed out in what is otherwise a typically outstanding piece of work.

Grey is a big part of the colour pallete and I use it in place of pure black which would not work with the spirit of the 2000 look. Also the cream backgrounds were a gradient of light and dark, so I have used grey to represent that now I have substituted the cream for white.

I was trying to go with a pallete which would take as much of the colours from the current look and work them in. Its not as simple as replacing one colour for another, with the way the elements blend into each other, unlike the clean and stark shapes you get with the current look.

I replaced the final two shots from the World News titles, and used two shots from the Stings. When Lee pointed out he liked the bottom left image in my original stills, I wanted to use that for the endboard. I personally prefer that one and so while the shot is an existing shot, I have taken a bit of license to make what I think is a "better" composition.

Finally, the music is actually from the 2002 update (which got a slightly more 'upbeat' mix), and not the original 2000 titles.

The music on the youtube version is from 2002, but I animated to the 2000 music, and look, so not technically a problem Smile

I like to get honest feedback more so than gushing praise of flat dismissal! And whilst I take it on board, it will be for future animations where I may pay it some heed.

This is really cool. I love 'what if' mocks if they're done properly. Would love to see the bottom two animated as well, especially the bottom right.

Beautiful work as always

I meant the animated versions of the BBC News ones, not the BBC World News one.

This is just brilliant... execution is absolutely superb as always, and i really think the white/grey breathes fresh life into an excellent graphics package.

It's a shame you arent doing any more of these, but we're probably all better off not having too many nerdgasms.

Outstanding once again. Very Happy

I loved the golden background in images. I think you should put a lighter gray in the video, and end of the video, turn the balloon a little slower. background details, excellent. There's a part that looks like the opening of World Sport (0:12).

I really like the video, I'd rather that than the current titles!
