Was talking to bail about this on messenger, but following on from the earlier discussion if you watch this video in full screen, but reduce the resolution to 480, the earlier mentioned blurriness makes it indistinguishable from an original copy. So it very well might be that the proper graphics were that sharp after all.

So erm.. this happened... in progress obviously but I felt like I was on a roll.

I love seeing people work on this, I'm amazed how much both Bail and Martin managed to pull together in a couple of weeks. I think I might pull mine out of the archives and look over it with fresh eyes. I'd be keen on also streaming a session too like Bail. Would have to be either a morning or evening session for UK viewers....

These are glorious recreations but if anyone is looking for a challenge it would be interesting to see an interpretation of this for the missing clamshell years - how might BBC News have looked from 2004-2008 if they'd developed this look, which was effectively resurrected in 2008 in a new guise, rather than gone down a completely different route.

The 1999/2000 branding emerged from the past identities that BBC News used, so it's useful to look at that, if you wanted to look at the gap between 1999 and 2008
