Looks amazing DTV! Well done!
I always thought the bulletins moved into N6
at the time of the rebrand in 1999, but you're suggesting they moved before that? When did they move and what were the subtle differences in the set? And final question, where did the bulletins come from whilst they changed the set?
I always assumed that but when researching this set I noticed that there was a slight difference in set between some of the photos.
After noticing that the cameras are different and the ceiling is notably lower in some (the N6 ones) and after rereading the TVC article on tvstudiohistory.co.uk, it became clear that they had moved when the News Centre opened in late 1998.
I'm not aware of any other details, hopefully someone else is, but I would assume that if the old BBC World set was still standing in N1 they would have done a weekend of bulletins from there while they moved the main set across. Given that the relaunch was in May 1999 they must have known it was coming, so it seems odd that they moved the set for all of 10 months - plus they'd have then had to decamp somewhere else while they put in the 1999 set?
