--UPDATED DESIGN FURTHER DOWN PAGE--

Recently I was wondering what BBC Look North (NE and Cumbria) would look like if it went under a shorter name, in a similar vein to BBC London's former brand of 'BBC LDN'. I decided to set about creating a few designs under the name of 'BBC NE' (with on screen graphics using 'BBC NE NEWS' to help highlight its a news bulletin). The designs loosely follow the current branding in terms of the aston layout, but the rest take inspiration from the previous decade of BBC News branding (such as the place names in the background etc).

It more closely resembles the pre-2008 look, with the 'transmissions rings'. However not sure the Cumbrian people will be happy?

The design itself is clear, coherent and has a solid idea behind it but it's not executed to the best of your ability - the idea I like, but it needs more 'polish' - reminds me of 2004/BBC LDN in its own way!

I also think the 'BBC NE NEWS' looks silly on the strap!

Clear cut, glossy, modern and fresh. Whats not to like.. It's good to see something well made coming from The Gallery.

It looks good! Very Happy it a good mix between the current presentation and the presentation from 2003/4-2007! Good work! Maybe you could design more slides??

Midlands Today already use MTD on various stuff, and were going to rebrand MTD in 2004 (little known fact)...

IMO the first one looks better however I do think that this is a very good mock and is more visually interesting than what is on the BBC Regions at the moment.

Yeah, MTD was dropped for a very good reason, there was already a well established brand in 'Midlands Today' well in operation.

I can see the argument around integrating the network coverage more closely with BBC News (I'd add it to the straps) but it goes some way to demonstrating the effectiveness of some of the names already in use.

LDN was a different case, arising out of creation of a new region in the capital... frankly, that brand rather feel on its arse, being rebranded within a couple of years with a place name which easily resonates with people just tuning in.

Rightly so, it was awful! The LDN was a compound of London and meant to represent the 'power of three' - referring to the Tri-Media brand it represented. What a bad idea!
