First time I think I've mocked on here since the new look! But anyhoo. Seeing as BBC London is always the first region to break away from its corporate branding, I thought I'd experiment to see what direction they might take it whilst still retaining the current BBC News style. As such I've kept the globe rings but added more time-lapse (in colour rather than monochrome), given it a much bolder colour harking back to the previous look and subtle animated text reminiscent of the 1999 style titles. I'm quite please with them.

Created in After Effects this does animate.. but it crashed just as I was exporting so I'll put the video later. Here is a
large res still image from the sequence so you can see how nice it looks full size. I must point out that the video elements are NOT my own and comes from here, like wise the audio remains property of the BBC/Music 4. Comments as ever are welcome.

Frantic much?!?!

The movement of the globe/orb as it animates is too much. I also think the music is bad for TV, not so bad for radio (definitely LBC inspired) but can see why you chose to use it, to make it stand out.

Other than that, you have done great as usual!

EDIT: I have been asked to make a statement from an unnamed source...

It is amazing...

It's sarcasm, I said "tsk you should have said it was amazing" so he did.. just not as subtley as I hoped.

I really like the way you've brought back the four notes motif - it was a real shame when they got rid of it. However, I think the music is very loud and brash and goes too far away from BBC News.

Graphics are well executed but not sure if they're an improvement. As always though, there is scope for this idea.

I like the mock, it's a good concept, it is however a tad too fast, it could be slowed down, other than that, it's fab. Certainly makes mine look awful.

(I'm not judging the music, as that isn't what you've made)

I think its phenomenal - the executions is superb, and I don't think its too "fast" - the orbs are gliding smoothly and at the pace I think fits.

Perhaps mixing in some less dense shades of red would give the shapes more separation, but I really do think this is great.

Little things like the motion tracking of your title board onto the set to fit the slow camera zoom shows the level of detail in your work.

Bravo that man.

Oh right. I thought that mix was created by Bail himself. What was that used for then? BBC London Radio?

Yes, it was only introduced in January. More about it here.

I like the mix of transfer modes, however, just a minor niggle (probably an AE bug), on the high res version the Spheres look distorted along the edges

That's youtube more than it is the actual file or AE.

how did you get the "BBC LONDON"s to do the decode and encode animation like that?
