So from my point of view, its turning the BBC into France T�l�visions which is distinctive in its own right.

In addition to the general similarity to France Televisions' overall corporate look, these are very similar the old logo of RFO, the service for France's overseas territories:

As I like to research international tv brand packages, I agree with everyone with the France T�l�visions logo theory.

Also, being a bit picky here, but those pictures are way to big for the forum.
