I think the BBC channels need some 1997-style consistency - I know people have tried to tackle this before, and thought I would have a go.

BBC One Ident
Wishful thinking, a CGI globe. The camera starts on the moon and tracks over the Earth,, revealing the sun bursting out of the background.
*

BBC One Regional variant
*

Promo End
*

BBC Two Ident
I'd intend for new takes on the old idents to be shot to accommodate the new positioning of the logo.
*

BBC Three Ident
Random streaks of light dance to a modern upbeat track.
*

BBC Four Ident
An artist's canvas comes alive and paints itself in vivid colours.
*

News titles

Do like the positioning of the box and promo end text, colours and ideas for BBC 3 and 4 idents.
Don't like the idea for the BBC 1 ident - looks a bit 2000s Sky News.
Biggest problem I have with this is the choice of font, sorry. It would probably be great for THREE but not across the board.

Personal preference but I hate how the 'W' looks on that font.
BBC One
I don't think that CGI ident would work with the kind of channel BBC One is, seems more likes something I would see on the Discovery Channel with this kind of music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1JZDawbT5g
BBC Two
What do you mean by reshot? Do you mean with the original concepts? Because if so, I think that purple box would look hideous with the different colour schemes of the different idents.
BBC Three
Isn't that BBC3 ident just a rehashed version of BBC4's launch idents?

Are the BBC News titles going to be reedited to have the globe in reverse like this? How will the newsroom pan work?

I like the placement of the logo in the idents. The font seems acceptable to me. I particularly like the idea of the BBC4 ident. Good on the whole. I like it.

Is it just me that sees the letters unevenly sized when looking at the font, particularly the A in WALES and S in EASTENDERS look larger?

Something about the font doesn't sit easy with me. I don't know if it's too close to the BBC logo or I'm too used to seeing the logo being smaller than the name of the channel.

I'll be totally honest and say that I don't really like this.

The logos are simple (which isn't a bad thing) and seem very bland. I like that you have gone for squares instead of rectangles though.

I do like the idea for the BBC One ident, but the logo is letting it down and the endboard is poor. There is something about the BBC Two ident that doesn't sit right. That shade of purple on yellow looks odd. BBC Three is very bland, and lacks personality and the logo positioning is not right for BBC News. I really like the idea for BBC Four, and its the best of the lot.

Overall it's pretty sub-standard if you ask me, but there is some good ideas here.

2/5.

If you were a newbie Whataday I think you'd be taking a bit of a beating in here. Although I really could envisage some branding consultant being paid millions and coming up with the idea to make the BBC logo more prominent in the channel logos to me it just doesn't look right. Also I feel as the box logo consistency fell apart quite quickly before it probably would again.

No objection to the positioning of the logo, but think with BBC1 you need to show how a set of idents would work, not just the one. So fed up of the BBC "2" now - going back to the 90s idents has made me hate it even more rather than fall back in love with it, so I think a new concept is needed. BBC3 and BBC4 are good starting points, though as with the "2" I find the whole BBC News look really tired now as well.

Aside from choosing a font with a stupid 'w' and slapping it onto some stock images, what exactly have you done?

1/5 - Not the level of work i would expect from a veteran of this forum. You should know better.

I probably shot myself in the foot by even coming up with some vague ident ideas. I should have been clearer that the mock is far more about the logos and their positioning.

Realistically to my mind the only box here that works is the BBC Four one.
The BBC Two one (and for that matter BBC News) I think is thrown off track by the W used in that font so I think it may have been a better idea to either redo the W or use the W from another similar font.

The BBC One Ident is probably going to be very similar to one that Carlton used (their so-called "Sunrise" one that was used on and around 9/11) in different colours. The idea has potential.

BBC Two would realistically move away from 15 year old presentation to something new. Or even new idents around this theme.

Just No, but if you revise the idea then maybe.
